ouch! over the last two months i've been asked about my knees hundreds of times and i can't count the amount of times i've replied with "there are a lot of people worse off than me". it's all relative though isn't it? you'll be pleased to hear that the tears have dried up :-o AJ Adele and I are on exactly the same page here. As a child i was a spoilt brat who expected everything. i spoil my boys with experiences and they don't expect anything, i make sure of it. i didn't get to see them ski after the first day in les arcs so if i can stand at the bottom of trolles and see them ski down it'll make me happier than if i was doing it myself. so for this reason (and being with my mates, nice meals, vin chaud, mountain air) i've decided that we should go. it's not all about me. Trencher, i love your videos. and i love the idea of a few days learning in hyde park. great idea. thanks everyone. aren't women and men different :!: caron |

well, the decision's been made for me. the insurance company will only pay out if i'm unfit to travel. so, anyone know any good bars in tignes for a sad and lonely woman? ) |

thanks admin for making me laugh for the first time tonight apart from that, can i add that my two boys are really confused - they desperately want to ski but the're so upset seeing me crying tonight! it would make me so happy to see them skiing down trolles... |

firstly, i'd like to say a big thank you to everyone that's helped me along with advice, support and generally keeping me happy since january.
I got the results of the scans on both my knees today. the so-called bad (left) knee has a damaged mcl as suspected but no big deal. the so-called good (right) knee has a torn acl, cracked cartilage and bruised and bleeding bones. as you can probably imagine i'm pretty down. I can't ski in tignes in 3 week's time but it's "probable" that i can ski next year - follow up in 6 weeks to see if i need an operation. so, what would you do... holiday for 26 (organised by me) in a nice chalet over easter. do you go and hope you don't feel sorry for yourself or do you claim on the insurance and go somewhere else or save it for an eff off skiing holiday next year? (which i obviously can't book yet because of the uncertainty of the future.) thanks everyone caron |

hi AJ
i've looked into these resorts for christmas with my two boys (7 and 11). our priorities are snow, convenience and good intermediate runs. as much as i love the idea of christmas on lake louise, it has the same problems as banff which is that they're both a bus ride to the slopes and are supposed to be absolutely freezing which obviously isn't great for the kids. whistler ticks every box but I keep hearing about the rain, yuk! so we don't know what to do... probably val thorens. i'm open to argument though :-) caron (having read that back, weather is obviously a priority too!) |
