What's next "fast-track" (like at theme parks), pay extra to jump the queues.

Sorry, no, if they can get lifts open earlier, then get them open for all, first come first served and they get the first run. All these 'extras' are just greed. IMHO

Smartski, if a resort gets the lifts open earlier, they have to charge a cost for it. And even if I do not like the idea of paying more when ski trips are already sooo expensive, I have to admit that having to pay for this "extra" is understandable --since it costs them to offer it.

SwingBeep partly got to the point before me. I suspect the lifts are running anyway, for staff etc. You can often see bubbles running an hour or so before they officially open, it's not extra "cost", just extra profit...which is my point about a 'slippery slope'.

Stayed there about 5 years ago. Access from the apartment block (part we were in anyway) was onto the blue run which is out the back of the building. Stairs came out the bottom of the building to the left-hand side as I recall, but I can't remember the name of the run though.

I'll see if I've got any photos.

one word: Chamonix. I can't believe people mention 3V ... Do not go to Zermatt, or 3V or elsewhere as they are miles away.

Err Tony_H said it would be a struggle to find resorts open that late...I knew Val T was, so suggested it....and yes I said "BUT 2.5-3 hrs "

And why not mention it? VT pretty much all above 2000m+, 150 km of runs (80 pistes).

What about Chamonix? 1000m+, 108 km of runs(69 pistes).

Just give the facts as they are, add things to the pot - fine (Chamonix if you think its the bee's knees) and let people look & choose...Why shoot others down and argue that your opinion is the only one?

flying stress for me is only about non-allocated seating and paying for baggage... so not surprising Ryanair & Easyjet are up there (actually EasyJet's result is not as bad as you've thought.)

Val Thoren's open 'til April 27th with 25% off lift passes (in resort they were possibly suggesting they might make 7th May). BUT 3 Valleys is 2.5 - 3 hrs from Geneva though.

ah, J2ski boys did well...it's working again now :) .

fair point on both counts...

Actually I love all the wibble. Skiers are destined to wibble anyway; the shortest distance between two points is a straight line, do we take it? No, we carve lovely wibbles all the way down, but get to the same point in the end.

[edit: taking it back, the J2ski boys need more practice, it's stopped working again ;-)]
