This survey basically says these are my ideas, what you think? Not really an in-depth questionnaire into needs....

Big Variation In 'Winterisation' Charges Where Chains Compulsory

I never book direct with the operators as their prices are always significantly higher than those with the intermediaries. Overtime I have booked with HA I have never had a problem. They have always provided what I want. This holiday is the only time I have encountered problems, this was caused by Hertz trying it on - nothing to do with HA. As soon as I showed them my confirmation and refused to pay any extra the problem suddenly went away.
As with everything, always make sure that they are not charging you for something that you don't need when you return the car. I am happy to invest 20 minutes of time looking for the best deal rather than paying over the odds. Personal choice I suppose. Time v money ;) |

Big Variation In 'Winterisation' Charges Where Chains Compulsory

I hired a car through holiday autos in Geneva (Swiss side). All winter gadgets included in price. When I returned the car, they tried to charge me and extra £80 for 'winterisation' and also an extra day. After a lot of cross words and waving of confirmation emails they agreed and did not charge me anything
Lesson here everyone - if it's all inc at the start make sure they (hertz in this case) don't add it at the end!! |

Thanks adders, really useful review - reminds me I must write my Les gets one from last week.
Sounds pretty much as I expected, interesting to see that you stayed at the same place we are - speedos will def be getting packed! Bought the ski pass, sorted ski hire. Just 33 sleeps to go! |

Cheers BB - I did expect that answer to be honest! We are staying at Radisson Blu apartments, so yes there will be a bit of entertainment at home.
We have booked skis with Precision ski hire. Will bear in mind your comment and make sure they are decent. We used to have 'wild' ski holidays, but my friends now have very young kids so things had to be different this time. Let me know which bar it was - was it the irish bar? |

Having suffered from a bad back recent that started for no reason, I can suggest a few things
- Keep moving, you have a desk job. Make sure you get up and walk around at least every hour (half hour if poss). At lunch, make sure you leave the building, don't sit at your desk (I am very guilty of this!) - Do some back stretches first think in the morning and last thing at night. I was recommended to do during the day too, but I thought lying on the office floor I would look a bit weird. There's plenty of stretches that you can do. Search the web - ignore the sites that say you are on your last legs ;) - See a physio. This worked wonders for me. I did have a few sessions and also some acupuncture. - Drink alcohol. if it does not help, at least you will be happy  |

But if you have the choice over ones that are more visually appealing (to each individual), wouldn't you go for that one? Or would you go for the "big brand" based on, because it's POC it must be good, despite it having the shape of a bucket? What's your definition of quality? The helmet debate will go on and on....it always does |
