it's useful to me, I know what it means )

Whoosh!!

freedapeople wrote:well, the teacher said we were not ready to ski it... so two of us went off in the afternoon to do it anyway !! bit silly as were prob were not ready, but was not that bad... only one tumble when snow plough turned !! lol

BTW.... i meant to say % at the begining.. not degree

Well, I've learnt something today about measuring steepness of slopes in percent.

I thought previously it was a typo and meant 78 degrees - hence I found it so unbeleivable.

It's a pity one persons mistake is an opportunity for another to try and make them look foolish though. No need really.

Tony is correct in what he says about that facility.

However, its probably best to phone or e-mail the accomodation direct, as the information you get will then be bang up to date regarding availabilty.

freedapeople wrote:ha ha, this is great !! 72% was what i was told at the time but i had only been skiing for 3 days so i knew nothing really. my point was really meant to be that it is not as bad as ppl say.

I'd like to see it again if i go back as i'm sure i would think it was pretty tame now.

I was also told that it was the steepest piste in austria... but i know i have done steeper.

I'm glad that it has caused debate.... but the question is why has Mr_Mayrhofen not skied it.... surely you must have skied every piste there a million times.....

Did you ski it with a class, or on your own/with family etc??

I'm genuinely interested.

Well, I haven't tried it yet, due to some of the horror stories bandied about.

if conditions were really favourable I would give it a go.

Ellestine did it last year and found it pretty ok I think?

There is indeed such a sign there.

For what its worth, only one small section is genuinely steep, the rest is not. It just so happens that on the chair ride up you can't see the steep bit and this catches a lot of people out.

It's not 78 degrees. You really, really need that trig' lesson.

I agree, it's priceless though.

Do we have another contestant who can explain why not to Tony and skidaddle before they dig in any deeper?

You really, really should check the previos posts, as you're in danger of making something out of nothing.

Tell you what, when I go to Mayrhofen in December I'll ask some people who may be able to give us the answer as to the steepness of the bloody thing.

Then you can argue the toss with them as well!

I am getting it, Ise, loud and particularly clear.

55 dgrees is obviously my estimate - I haven't measured it for pity's sake.

Good grief.

You're still not getting it, it's not 55 degrees, it really, really, really isn't. You're not even close.

Do you know what a 55 degree slope looks like? Instead of just getting wound up and replying, think about it.

For the trigonometry lesson - no charge )

Like i said, 55 degrees is my ESTIMATE of the STEEPEST part - average will of course be condiderably less than that.

Harakiri - 78 degrees.
Trig lesson (not needed, but thanks anyway) - no charge.
