Smartphone data abroad.

Within the app it will give you a rundown on how much data is has saved, quite surprising as I haven't noticed anything missing form the browsing experience since I've had it. It is now available for Android as well. www.Onavo.com

Onavo would be very useful while abroad - you will definitely save on data usage and hence on massive bills when you get home.

However - I used Onavo for a while in the UK - and it turns out that Onavo's gateways are not in the UK (I think they are in Ireland), and therefore sometimes you will find that certain content is not available. For example, BBC iPlayer - it sees your phone as being outside of the UK, and refuses to let you watch anything. I'm sure there are other examples of websites etc which have location-specific content.

I have stopped using it now, as I never seem to reach my data usage allowance anyway, so there is no need to have the inconvenience of not being able to see certain UK-only content. But I might re-visit it again before going away next month...
If you're after nightlife, stay well clear of La Thuile - the skiing is great, and ski school etc very easy to get to - but it certainly does not have an apres-scene.

Admittedly the Gatwick Best Western isn't exactly 5-star luxury, but at least they have a bar...

39 sleeps - have now subtracted one as we will now be staying at a hotel near Gatwick the night before, so holiday starts one day sooner! :)

Back on topic...

Try this link: http://shop.mooserwirt.at/CDs-from-DJ-Gerhard. The Mooserwirt has an online shop where you can buy shite apres-ski CDs - you can listen to a preview of each song, so if you can stand to listen to all of them without going insane then you might find the one you are looking for.

It's really not hard to get to on skis, it's a blue that goes all the way down to it from the top of Gampen.

Alternatively it is easy to get to on foot as well - the free Mooserkreuz bus stops about 2 mins walk away. You can get this from the bus stop underneath the Rendlbahn.

But it is definitely worth the effort to get there on skis - dancing on the tables without ski boots on is just not the same! Not to mention the drunken fall down the hill after 5 beers and 5 jagerbombs...

Excellent choice on the Talisker, my favourite single malt. I shall have some of this in my hip flask in Val d'Isere next month :D

51 sleeps... Still seems like a lot.

7 weeks 2 days sounds slightly better!
