Just a quick tip, don't go for any new style clip on chains I know which magazine recommends, all the clip on ones that are easy to get on also come off easily too
Sorry if you already know this but I know more than one person who has had them and they are completely useless, I have spent 4 years in the alps so have seen plenty. All the best :D |

Hi
You could try the 4 Vallées in Switzerland, choose the cheaper areas to stay like Veysonnaz and Les Collons/Thyon there is great Swiss ski school, this end of the 4 Vallées in much cheaper to eat on the mountain hot chocolate 4chf (£2.50)Rosti 16chf Wine again from 4chf per glass as the Swiss produce all their own which is very high quality. Fly into Geneva Easyjet and many others or Sion with snowjet (this has the shorted transfer in the alps from 20mins) There are wide open sunny slopes in Les Collons ideal for beginners, nice places to stop for lunch or take a picnic. This is the more traditional end of the 4 Vallées. I live here so please feel free to ask any questions, the only other thing I would say is to be organised make sure you have all your kit(excluding hire equipment), transfers, ski school, and as much information about the resort you choose before you go as it will make your holiday less stressful. Have a great time Best wishes Helen  |

Looks great, we are all Hydro Electric here but not as eco friendly.
Our lift at Les Masses is going to be replaced in the next year or so, would be nice to get a solar one  Hot and Sunny in Valais today |

I have been a chalet host for the last 4 years, but it think it is different working for yourself as we run our own chalet. From feedback I have from other people it makes so much different finding good people to work for, I would do you homework when it comes to this, also get out to ski as much as possible even if you are tired (it is what you are there for after all), also will beat the mid season blues.
Have fun :D |

You could try http://www.nendaz.ch/tourism/last-minute-offers.html
Lots of info on the site above, we were there last Saturday doing Solid Air bike race and ate in the restaurant La Trattoria Dei Savi, very nice. I hope this is some help Best wishes Helen |

Hi
You could try 4 Valleys, there are smaller resorts like Nax, Arolla, Evoléne and more which are great to explore and off piste. |

I agree completely with Bandit for both Crans and Zermatt. I probably don't need to say but Zermatt can be very expensive, depends if you are really keen to ski near the Matterhorn. I went up in the Summer on the train, two trains we parked slightly further down the mountain, it cost from memory for 6 of us, 4 adults and two little children about £170, can anyone tell me if this is about right?.
Have a great hols. :D Helen |
