Hi,

Can anyone recommend somewhere to buy car snow chains?

I bought some cheapo ones last year and the poor quality made them unusable - so I need to buy another set. Any recommendations appreciated.

Hi,

I agree with Mr Wickers Rud are a good bet as are Thule ( i think the spelling is correct ),a lot of chains offered by petrol stations etc are usually cheaper mass produced makes, so ideally you want a chain that is made of 9mm or 10mm links minimum and as above Rud and Thule are about the best in the business, expect to pay around £40 - £60 for a set that will fit a 14inch wheel for example.

There are some good online deals around, especially at this time of year.

All the best

Just a quick tip, don't go for any new style clip on chains I know which magazine recommends, all the clip on ones that are easy to get on also come off easily too

Sorry if you already know this but I know more than one person who has had them and they are completely useless, I have spent 4 years in the alps so have seen plenty.

All the best :D
