Hi dids
I hope your daughter is better this morning. Just a couple of things I have thought about that you may need to take into consideration. Have you informed your insurance company of the incident. It may not make a different to the cost of the insurance but if you dont declare and god forbid she hurts it further by falling or something, it could be treat as a pre exsisting condition that you did not declare. Also I know you say she is a good skiier and doesnt fall over much but if you are going somewhere that has a lot of drag lifts, the constant pull on her wrist to grab them could hurt it further. I hope you have a great time Karen |

Just thought Id share lol.
I have a sony F717 which I really loved, although when I purchased I naively thought it was an SLR! however it took some fantastic photos and I had it for about 4 years. I upgraded last year to a SLR Canon 450D or rebelXI I think its called in the US. The only thing is though, when I am skiing I am terrified of falling over and breaking it. Another drawback is also say if I am on the slopes and I want hubby or nephew to take an action photo of me, I had to ask them to ski down with my beloved expensive camera (I have 2 lenses for it - the 18-55 and 55-200 IS) in case they fall over with it. So for me it is not really practical in terms of skiing, so I tended to use my camera phone (LG viewty) which has a 5mp camera (alegedly!) but its not the best! not when you have £750 worth of camera kit in the apartment and you are taking photos with your mobile! lol but never mind, I still like it, but still getting used to it. I am finding it hard to move from a P&S to a SLR and still tend to shoot on auto with the odd photo being taken on other settings. I keep threatening to join a photo club and one of these days I will lol!. I took a few photos of the snow falling which I was quite pleased with but say for example the girl in her bikini in the snow, I just grabbed my camera and a few of the photos were blurred. My point and shoot would probably have made a better job. I just dont think I am quick enough of immediatly knowing what settings I need to use. Here are some photos I took this year in Niederau. At the right hand side you can see what I have taken them with either LG electronics (mobile) or Canon http://www.flickr.com/photos/28344965@N07/3303906587/ Karen |

I hope you dont mind me asking a question on your thread but I am thinking about la plagne for next year for myself and family (all near enough beginners, just want to stick to green and blue). I have never been to France skiing before alway skied in Austria. The only thing that worries me is that the runs are going to be a bit "samey". from looking at pictures of the la plagne area there doesnt seem to be much in the way of scenery. just slopes for miles which is a good thing but I dont want it to get boring. Or if someone can tell me different. like I say we will be sticking mainly to blues and greens, might have the odd day over to les arcs (which on looking at a 6 day family ticket between the discovery and the unlimited pass was only a difference of about 80 euro for 4 of us).I am still looking at options but I do still keep coming back to la plagne mainly because of its vast area of blues and cruisy runs

we had hired helmets before we went away to take with us. hubby and 2 kids were in ski school (hubby in separate school). hubby set off on day one wearing a helmet but by day 2 he refused to wear one, falling under at peer pressure because "no one else is wearing one"! and he said he looked like an idiot on the beginner slopes being the only one in a group with a helmet on. I was a bit miffed but he said if he was skiing with the kids he would wear it (as he wanted to lead by example).
I dont know if he would have thought differently if a, this terrible tragedy/freak accident had happened before we went away and b, if the teacher had of been wearing a helmet. can you imagine if anything had of happened to him while he was on the nursery slopes like it did to Natasha and he actually had a bloody helmet sitting in the apartment! part of me is annoyed that he didnt wear the helmet but as he likes to keep reminding me he is a 40 year old grown man and he'll do what he bloody well likes! lol thats me told haha, well for now anyway, but next holiday I am superglueing helmets to all heads! |

I was just having a look for some interactive piste maps when I came across this:
http://www.kitzalps.com/en/kitzbueheler-alpen-allstarcard.html apparantley it covers Kitzbühel SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental ski region Schneewinkel Hochtal Wildschönau Alpbachtal Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Zell am See-Kaprun (incl. glacier Kitzsteinhorn 3,203 m) It had me curious and I have only briefly skimmed it, but from the looks of it you can get 6 days skiing in all these areas on this pass for £204 (well euros, but whats the difference!) I paid £150 for my 6 day pass just for the wildschonau area. Just thought I would bring it to your attention. apologies if there is a clause, like I say, I only skimmed reading it |
