Another benefit of staying in Zermatt, is the wonderful view of the Matterhorn. It looks very ordinary from the Italian side.

There are regular bus services from the Airport to Whistler. We took the bus on the return trip. However, on arrival, on the way there, I had time to kill, and asked at the info desk. The consequence was that I hired a driver and lux SUV, for slightly more than the bus fare would have cost for four of us.

That couldn't be anything to do with your persistent and negative slagging off of Niederau? The lovely thing about J2ski, apart from the wealth of first hand knowledge, is the ALMOST 100% majority of kindly comments. |

That is good quality info, dobby, in two ways. The key info though is that a novice ought to be able to get safely off the mountain in L2A. There is nothing better than first hand experience. |

This is the snow record for Saalbach, for the last four seasons. Hinterglemm is higher up the valley. Readings are for village level/mountain level:
2007/08 ~ 34cm / 144cm 2008/09 ~ 38cm / 104cm 2009/2010 ~ 11cm / 36cm 2010/2011 ~ 38cm / 65cm Hence on every year, in the past 4 years, there was snow. |

Thats a good shout, Grizwald. A tip for a half day in Kitz is the museum. There is an interesting history of skiing, and I am sad to say that I overlap with some of the timescale!!!! There are also some good paintings. The most famous Kitzbuhel painter is Alfons Walde. He painted in the early 1900s. I was talking to an Austrian gallery owner about 5 years back, she told me of an exhibition of Walde, where you felt that you could "walk into the picture". I just love his extreme of tone and colour, along with the starkness of his people subjects.
Before you go, look at the youtube videos of the Hahnemkahn, particularly of the Franz Klammer era. I met with him last year, and while he is a most unassuming man, he is quietly proud of his contribution to skiing. There are great views across Tirol and down to the Hohe Tauern. |

Yeah, like we ALL think of skiing every six seconds! |
