At the risk of keeping admin busy with his shears...
I've often read quite a lot of strong opinions of french people/resorts on the forum. I thought it might be nice for anyone considering a french resort for the first time to hear a different view [seeing as we're a friendly bunch :D]. I used to be extremely ignorant about french people and wouldn't even visit the country. A few years back I was persuaded by friends to go to the dordogne and we've never looked back. I've since visited 3 french ski resorts, Paris and the south of France. I can hand on heart say that my experiences have been wonderful. I've encountered 90+% extreme friendliness/helpfulness and, most notably, any return visit to a restaurant / shop / bar, etc has had staff jumping through hoops backwards. I'm wondering, is it because I go out of my way to be friendly, courteous and speak to them in their language as much as possible (which isn't much believe me!) or am I just lucky? A member of my family treats the french with contempt and disdain and, in return, receives the same treatment. No surprises there! It is expensive, I'll give you that and I don't doubt that people have had bad experiences, but can't that be said of anywhere in the world? phew! so pleased I got that off my chest. now, what time's kick off?
