Cheap Allround Good Ski Resort
Started by User in Ski Chatter, 9 Replies
Time of year may be important.
When is your trip planned for? Too early and the better value resorts may struggle for snow.
Sauze would be a good possibility as Birdy says, also have a look at Serre Chevalier.
Ischgl Christmas or New Years eve

Your dates are over two holiday periods when hotels would hope to be full. Leaving a booking till late - you may find most hotels are full.
Late booking is great for low season holidays but not peak season.

You need somewhere snow sure - so fairly high.
Do you have a preference for language?
French, German, Italian, Spanish, Scandinavian??
You won't need anywhere big as beginners but easy peasy access to the nursery slopes is a big plus - carrying your kit a long way and on and off buses can be a trial until you get the hang of it.
Let us know a bit more and you will get lots of advice (no comment on the helpfullness of this though :) )

How to get from Paris-CDG to Val Thorens
Started by User in France, 5 Replies
Train is a great idea and there is a very good service from Paris to Moutiers.
Both TGV direct during the day and an overnight sleeper train as well.
How to do this will depend on your time of arrival in Paris and whether you can get to Val Thorens on the same day or will need to overnight somewhere - maybe even on the train!
It does look like you have been given a transfer quote for a private taxi from both Moutier and Geneva. There are far more economical ways to do the final part.
Buses run regularly and this part of the journey is quite simple from Moutier - although there may be a bit of walking etc in resort from the bus stop to the hotel.

If you want to look at using the train rather than another flight to Geneva then I use - https://www.capitainetrain.com/en but there are some rules about which country you are in to buy tickets so you may have to search around for the right website and price etc.

For any more specific details I suggest you let us know the day and time of your inbound flight to Paris (and return).

There are now 21 people booked and either paid the discounted full price or deposit.
3 more sorting out final confirmations.
A number hoping but totally unable to confirm yet.

Which means that we have booked half the hotels availability.

There are three single rooms available and a good number of superior twins plus 2 triples and 2 quads. So far no one outside our group has booked any accommodation in the hotel.

People are flying from Manchester, Gatwick, Stansted and Southampton (when Flybe decide to open the bookings) plus a couple on the train and a couple driving.

So - looking good so far!
I must admit I have never booked a ski holiday this far in advance before but I already have the sleeps to ski countdown on my computer.
