That'll be the problem then... I wondered why packing my boots was so hard; I just need to take my feet out of them first...

But back on-topic... get one of those wheely bags with a boot compartment - mine just about tips 20kg when full (including the boots) and is almost always the only bag I need to check in.

If you do use a separate boot bag make sure it's a strong one (boot bags are often used as promo items and some are little stronger than a Tescos carrier bag). Wrap the boots with fleeces etc so they're well protected, use a padlock and mark the bag so it's unique.

Your boots (assuming you've spent some time getting ones that fit you perfectly) are very valuable - take care of them!

Thanks a
dmin - where dp O get pne pf thjpse bags with the boot compartment. I live in the uAE so no snow supplies here!! Would they sell them where I buy my boots? I will be going to Niederau and Kitzbuhel if anyone know some good places to look

thx

Nope. Suitcase every time. Dont take so many clothes with you, you wont need them.

Thanks guys - Tony H, can't take too many clothes (being female I want to take the whole wardrobe!) as I am packing for hubby and 3 kids too. We only take 2 suitcases plus a bag for the jackets salopettes, snow boots etc.

We are traveling from the UAE with Etihad and they also only allow 20kgs max so will have to unpack a bit of stuff to make room. Will be buying kids helmets while there too as the hire ones did not make the grade last year. Any advice on this one - best brand of helmets for kids ages 7 10 and 12?

transporting ski boots

Hi to all

As I will be buying new ski boots this year in Kitzbuhel can anyone advise the best way of transporting them home? Back in Oz we just throw them in the car and drive home so I have no idea of the best way to transport them on the plane. Should I put them in my suitcase or carry them on as hand luggage (may be a bit big?)

thanks

Hi Barnsey & Kookie

We will also be arriving in Niederau on 7th. 2 kids in tow (the 3rd will be in Kitzbuhel with her school)

We also need ski school for them - will probably bump into you
Hi Zwee and Tommy

I have EXACTLY the same problems as you guys. Had it for 20 years whether ice skating, rollerblading or skiing. Shoes are ok. I have been known to rip my boots off as fast as I possibly could (whilst in tears) in the middle of a run!! Not good etiquette or safe  but the agony is unbearable. Also done it while on the chalrlift!!

cem has recommended a bootfitter in Kitzbuhel called Daleboot and I am booked in for boot fitting on 7th Feb. I will let you both know how I get on
Agony in feet!!
Started by Paulsaan in Ski Fitness, 18 Replies, discussing Niederau
Hi, I too suffer from agony in my feet after just a short time on the slopes. There is a J2Skier called cem who has been so very helpful to me. I am getting boots professionally made and fitted this year on his diagnosis and recommendations. Check out his website www.solutions4feet.com. I will be posting reports from Niederau and Kitzbuhel in a couple of weeks so will let everyone know how I go with my new boots from Daleboot in Kitzbuhel!!!
