The Niederau Experience
Started by User in Austria, 91 Replies
Congratulations Caron A!!! We are off to Niederau 2 weeks today and will be staying at Auhof also. I have been following the previous thread on behalf of my best friend who has just had her knee done and is devastated that there will be no skiing this season. I havee been keeping her updated on your progress so she knows there is light at the end of the tunnel. She will be siging up as a J2Skier so she can get in touch with you to chat about "knee operation recovery"

Thanks for the great pics and the daily updates
Thanks guys. I have passed on the info to my girlfriend who is not yet a J2Skier but will be shortly when she gets time to sign up!!!! I gave her a guid thru the site yesterday and she was impressed with the friendliness and the information available
Hi, I have friends who have been offered a free ski chalet in Lanersbach, which we know is quite close to Mayrhofen. Does anyone know the area and how easy is it to get to the nearest gondola/chairs etc

thanks

Thanks for some beautiful pics and such an honest and in depth re4port on Niederau. We too are off on 7th Feb there and after reading this we are looking very much forward to our trip. My only concern is that my two small ones will be spending m,ost of the day in the shade??? it was mentioned that the ski school works from an area that is not in the sun?? Any advice on how many layers to put the kids in or would we be better hiring an instructor to take them up to the other areas that are in the sun? both of them are in their third year skiing and can competently travel easy runs with us but as my 12 year old will be in Kitz with her school I thought it would be best to put the younger two in ski school so they keep up with her when we meet up in Kitz after our stay in Niederau. Any advice appreciated - Jan???

Ian, it sounds as good an excuse as any to get yourself out there...
it'll be my first time on 19th jan, can't wait :D

I really can't squeeze any more skiing into this winter, but I am intrigued as to why it is so popular with so many people.
It's not that I am unsociable but I really do enjoy other countries culture without the need to mix with my own on holiday, so I suppose my biggest nightmare is a Brit invaded resort. :D

How do you feel about Aussies??? Our first trip to N on 7th February ;thanks to all the good reports here!!!

Ski Boot Fitting in Austria
Started by User in Ski Hardware, 21 Replies
Hi Scarlet fez

Based on some excellent input from cem and advice I am booked in to see Rob at Daleboot in Kitzbuhel the day I arrive.

Can you keep me posted on what your sports medicine people say. If it is something that cannot be fixed then I do not want to spend the mega dollars having my boots made at Daleboot if it is a problem that cannot be overcome. I will keep this post to show him though.

I have tried the drinking thing - makes me ski better but does not numb the pain enough!!

Good luck
