sued wrote:Thanks guys for all your useful advice and I will go and see a sports physio. I have only been skiing for a couple of weeks and although the head knows what to do, the body just won't cooperate- very annoying!
I have booked myself in for another week of group lessons and hopefully I can gain a bit more confidence and control- that's the plan anyway.

Tino_11, I hope your roids recover. In fact maybe it wasn't a nosebleed you had on the slopes afterall!!! (I am hoping you get my Geordie humour!!)

Sue

I think I can cope with the Geordie humour, Lived there for most my life )

God luck with your next trip, hope you get rid of the pain!!

Jeeeeez, how 1980's are you?

Seriously, you can pick one up for about the price of 2 fantas in resort in France.

I have never flown through, to or from Geneva, but If I am snowboarding in France I normally take the train to the airport and catch a transfer from there.

Completely irrelevant I know, but I just wanted to contribute.

follow my suggestion and you still get to buy a laminator, think of all the things you could laminate :D

I agree, laminators are great.

When I go boarding for a week, I print of the piste map of the resort onto A4, insurance details on another sheet, laminate them together back to back. Then I take a scalpel and lightly score the result along its centre in both orientations, press it in quarter size with a cool iron et voila.....a perfect, flat, waterproof bit of safety kit for the mountain.

Dont bother for tiny resorts or limited opening, but it was bloody useful on my trip to Val d'Isere and Tignes where I was out on the slopes by myself nearly all day.
Skiing and yoga what do you think?

Judging by the weather at Zermatt, being naked is about the last thing I would want to be doing!!!

Ian Wickham wrote: I'm no speed freak, never had an injury in 32 years, but I have always had an interest in " I wonder how fast I skied that run", I agree that is not what skiing for me is all about.
But after all is said and done I do love a gadget.

I do this in my head. Usually at the lift station there is info on the run length. Get off the lift at the top, stick your iPod on with a long tune you know well, set off when the song starts and note where the song is at the bottom, then its a case of simple maths to work out average speed and a some basic reasoning to guess top speed from that based on the style of your skiing/riding.

I think if I had taken it up young I would have ended up doing that discipline!!!
