I have been to this 2 years running and it is fun to say the least.
It lasts 7 or 8 nights, and there is maybe 70 DJ's and 20 or 30 bands playing gigs throughout the town and on the mountain. Locations stay open till the lifts start in the morning and generally it's a good time with lots of fancy dress on the slopes etc. Last year they cleared a forest area and built a couple of huts for bars. Madness headlined the night....was very strange to see 20 year olds doing all the moves  Only problem with it is you need a frigging holiday afterwards. Next year is the 10th anniversary, and they promise a blinder. Not booked yet, not sure I can take the pace any longer :( http://www.snowbombing.com/en/ |

I'm looking at Hintertux as a base for a week before Christmas (13th - 20th).
4* Hotel (Bad Hotel Kirchler) Large Rooms (31 sqm) Thermal Spa and pool, Sauna, steam rooms etc. Half Board (Buffer Breakfast and 4 Course Dinner) Bar, Restaurant, Nightclub 6 day Skipass for the whole Zillertal range (640kms) 550 GBP (685 EUR) Looks a little steep at first glance, but when you take into account the liftpass @ 190 EUR and savings on food 120 EUR it dont look half bad for 4* luxury. And of course skiing/boarding is guaranteed!! |

I went to la Plagne over New Year in 2006/2007.
Now to be honest, the crowd I was with were not really into the wild nights, but the resort is not what we would call banging. Lots of little villages spread out and the main meeting place is Plagne Centre. It is very expensive 7EUR for a 400ml beer 2 years ago, 7 EUR for a box of fags if thats your thing, 7 EUR to hang your jacket up in one place!!!! The area is huge and skiing varied, unfortunately for me I found the nightlife not to be the same  One tip......book a table for New Years Eve, we didn't and didn't get fed until after Midnight. |
