I just picked a few photos from the week including some buildings and the jumping off things that seems to happen wherever I go.

Spent the last 8 days in Dubai and took a couple days to visit Oman and the capital city, Muscat. Photos aren't great but it was probably my favourite trip ever. The people of the UAE and Oman are the most hospitable I have come across, I expected to feel threatened but felt safer than in my own home town both in Dubai and Muscat.

Crossed the border in to Muscat at Hatta and figured on the way in to Muscat we would take an off road route which would lead to the Chains, I am afraid the photos cannot get across the beauty of the area but hopefully they go some way towards it. After this we went in to Muscat for the night and stayed at the shittiest hotel ever, the view made up for this. The next day we headed back to Dubai via Nizwa (old capital of Muscat) to visit a fort, a world heritage site and a Souk which wasn't open. Crossed the border back in to Abu Dhabi at Al Ain. Photos....

Edit: It is probably worth mentioning we did the route (12km on a dried out riverbed followed by about an hour of climbing) for the 'most beautiful emerald pool in Oman. Funnily enough when we got to the top it didn't exist. Apparently in winter it is perfect

'The Chains', a local boy caught up with us and showed us the route and played tour guide. Couldn't speak a word of English:

If you value your jacket and pants do not wrap them around your skis, edges are sharp and clothes cost money.

Edit: Oh yeh, I have a double ski bag, takes 2 pairs of skis and a pair of boots or 3 pairs of skis pretty comfortably.

Helmets are compulsory in Italy for kids but they are still an option in France (i think) so that could be why they were free!

Or a 252cm board that can actually be ridden

IMO, that is ridiculous.
DazUltra wrote:Hi, we're looking at heading to Canada from 12th to 26th December this year before the little one turns 2 (and we have to pay for him).

Have looked at a number of resorts from Whistler to Big White and Banff. Think that we have decided on Panorama as has a good selection of runs (wife is low intermediate and I am more advanced intermediate).

Only real concern aside from the village being quiet is whether 12th December is a little early for snow. If any of you kind folk have experience at this time of year in these resorts or others it would be appreciated.

Ski in/out is near essential as can't be doing with a drive back to resort if the kid needs picking up early...

There isn't a lot in Panorama Village at all. I would go somewhere else at that time of year. Just my opinion, haven't skied Panorama (just stopped by the 'village' but skied pretty extensively in the Banff area.
