if you go to the snowdome you'll have to book in for a lesson/s. they've got a nursery section that only lessons are allowed onto and then they progress you on to the main slope when you're ready. I'd personally say it's worth it.

I may be wrong but I thought lessons in austria were generally two hours in the morning, an hour for lunch and then another two hours in the afternoon?

Travelling with ski boots

there's four of us and we use two suitcases and two bootbags filled to the brim with boots (obviously), socks and anything less that'll protect the boots in the hold. annoyingly they made us join the very long queue to put them in with the special equipment at lyon last year

Good beginners resort in Europe

On the other hand, it can be a bit of a trek to and from whatever genuine beginner skiing is available and, as a lot of the resorts are quite low, the snow quality can be a bit hit and miss.

If you fancy austria then obergurl/hochgurgl is perfect for beginners: highest resort in austria, short transfer, ski in and out, tons of blues, really convenient. not a huge amount of nightlife though and expect to pay slightly more as it's mostly hotels.

agree. loads of greens but loads and loads of button lifts
just a tad
