I can tell you that it's about 1'30" to 2' ish to 1800 from chambery but peisey vallandry goes up the la plagne road. I don't imagine it'd be that much difference though. Don't go to lyon, takes forever!
The big problem with all the resorts in this area is that they have to go through bourg and the bottle neck is infuriating. it took us an extra two hours one time (although that was new year). the train goes into bourg and would be a doddle at the other end :D JonG's your man in the know |

I'm with Dave on this one too. my man learnt to ski as a child then started again after a 15 year gap. he had lessons and was flying down the mountain with grace, style and confidence within hours. The only criticism he gets from instructors is that his legs are too close together, looks good though!

I've had an identical experience to you. I love group lessons, I enjoy the banter, etc but the waiting around can be cold and annoying especially if you're in a large group.
If you and your wife are the same standard it's a good idea to go private, especially if you can get 3 for the same sort of price as group lessons, bargain! You'll improve enormously :D |

I think tignes is a toughy for beginners too, but at least everything else will now seem easy by comparison!
from experience Alpe d'huez is excellent for beginners as is les arcs 1950, 2000 and peisey villandry. new generation are supposed to be an excellent ski school in plan peisey. good on you for keeping at it  |
