Whats in your bag for a weeks skiing?

AllyG wrote:Well, if I'm going to write a list of what's in my suitcase, I might as well make it a proper list so that I can print it out to remind me next time I'm packing for a ski holiday, although some of the items will be against Tony's rules.

I have to pack for 9 days because it takes us a day to get to and from London.

1. 9 T-shirts
2. 9 pairs of underpants
3. No bras (I never wear them - most stupid unnecessary item ever invented).
4. Electric toothbrush plus charger and head and interdental brushes and toothpaste and socket converter ( I have a very expensive dental implant and it's most important that I keep my mouth clean).
5. Soap and toilet paper in case they've forgotten to put some toilet paper in the apartment and the shop is shut when we get there.
6. Ditto for a small amount of powder milk and a large packet of de-caffeinated tea (can't survive without tea and caffeine stops me sleeping)
7. My daughter's duvet and cover in vacuum bag (she hates the sheets and blankets they always seem to have in the apartments).
8. First aid bag with blister plasters, normal plasters, anti-septic cream, pain killers, voltarol, lemsip flu strength.
9. 6 pairs of ski socks
10. 1 pair of ski trousers
11. No jacket (because I wear it on the train with passport, lift passes, money, train tickets etc. in pocket)
12. 3 pairs of leggings to wear under ski trousers
13. 3 thin thermal tops to wear over T-shirt and under ski jacket
14. 1 fleece in case it's cold (plus wear one on the train).
15. 1 pair of ski goggles to go over my glasses
16. Prescription sun glasses
17. Neck warmer in case the weather gets terrible
18. No jeans other than the ones I wear on the train.
19. Ski gloves.
20. A towel in case they've forgotten to supply one.
21. Sun cream and lipsalve.
22. Mobile phone charger
23. Gluten free and dairy free food for food intolerant daughter.
24. 9 pairs of ordinary socks.

If I remember anything else I will edit the list - should be quite handy come February.

Ally

I'm so excited...The first one looks like it needs to be done on an empty stomach!

Edit: Is the last pic a close up of the first pic?
My brother is not working there this year but he's going for a holiday next week. I'm alittle jealous!

Where on earth do you procure a goggle, or did you make it yourself? ;)

...Or even a google?
Pas is looking ok for snow...you can get there from Arinsal so you'll definitely be able to ski. But I'm sure by the time you get there it'll be all sparkly and white!

If the historical snow reports are anything to go by, you have nothing to worry about. They are showing an average of 1cm at this time of year and plenty by the time you get there. Apart from 1997/8 there has been plenty of snow in the last week of December. (For the last 16 years)

I've been watching the webcams for about the last month and it all looked so good a couple of weeks ago- now I'm biting my nails a bit!

Just thought I'd register here, say hello and share my nervousness- hopefully someone on here will tell me that its still early so not to worry too much.

BTW- i don't care how uninformed any future replies may be- just tell me not to worry.....please!

A warm welcome to j2ski from me. :D

Where abouts in Andorra are you going?

...Oh and don't worry!
Getting fit for skiing

I'm feeling good this evening...I got the step machine out, dusted it off and did a 20 minute session on it. I'm very pleased that it was easier than I'd anticipated so I am fitter than I thought. I will go for half an hour tomorrow.

My goal is to loose 10lb by Christmas!
Waiting to go.

swskier wrote:My Val Thorens trip had a basic cost of £319 inc lift pass, accom and travel. Not bad, until you add on the extras, £70 for ski hire, £40 for lift pass extension, couple of nights out £40 deposit etc etc so it came to £480 plus a returnable damage deposit of £40. Plus on top of that food and drink (drink will be lots as its a uni trip, with around 2000 students in VT at the same time!) so looking at a fair bit more! The advantages of coach though being that there's no weight limits, so i can stock up on foods to take with me!

Still not a bad price.

I have my own skis and boots so I haven't got to shell out for equipment hire and there is no charge for ski carraige on the coach.

Food and drink is essential and the way I look at it is that if I were staying at home I would have to buy food...I will probably eat in the appartment some but do not intend to be a slave to the cooker.

As for drink...that'll bump the total cost up, as us oldies can afford and cope with more than you students!
