Waiting in line for ski lifts

Allie you obvisouly werent in the queue with me or you would definitly have been elbowed!! (just kidding)

I definitley suffered from slope rage!! I didnt so much mind the kids squeezing in with their instructors, that really didnt bother me as if they had of waited in the queues while we were in Niederau they would have been lucky to ski down twice! the queues were so bad. I also think it depends on how the lif queues are laid out. At one point our queue was 10 people wide which filtered into 1! very annoying.

What did annoy me was kids (and adults) who would completely miss the back of the queue and ski to where it filtered to 1!. I think it is a british thing though, because in life you just would not dare jump the queue, ie waiting in line in Tescos and you push to the front, and you definitly would not encourage your kids to jump the queue. It is a different world out there in the ski world.
I bet the op wished he had never asked! no wonder he never replied or said "thanks for the info guys" what a great help you are! lol

If you want any furhter information about my Niederau trip please have a look at the indepth review that I wrote at the beginning of March this year. There are quite a few reveiws of Niederau on this website. Dave mac is definitly the font of all knowledge as far as Niederau is concerned as he spends a lot of time there and know the place like the back of his hand.

Have a great trip. As you will see from the link, the only time we really went out in the evening was to do the toboganning in Oberseomtheing or other (sorry cant remember and its late lol) and it was really good. I highly recommend it, you dont even have to walk up the slope with your sled, the lift takes you! fab!

Not going to Chamrousse after all, we are off to Valmorel.

well just done it today (btw it was £1600 for me, hubby and 2 kids 9&11).

I really wanted to go to Valmorel and felt that even though Chamrousse was my second choice, for the sake of a couple hundred quid (doesnt sound much when you say it quick lol) I would take the first choice.

I had been pricing lots of different ways to go with my first choice of Valmorel including, DIY and tour operators. I found a great deal on the Crystal Website going to Valmorel for 2 adults 2 kids, ski and boot hire and lift passes self catering for £1850. But in the meantime, my sis in law and family decided they were coming, then they werent, then we decided to ask my nephew, who was coming then he wasnt and inthe end it has ended up just the four of us. Unfortunatly when I went back on to the crystal site (about 3 months later) the price had shot up to £2344! This was mainly increase in price of holiday slightly but they had also taken the free boots and skis for kids and half price lift passes off the options - which I thought was a bit sly. I was gutted, so then I decided to go back with my Chamrousse second choice.

However, (sorry I know this is a long story lol) on looking on different forums, I decided to contact Crystal ski today to ask why they had taken the offer of the free ski and boot hire for kids and half price lift passes (which is still on the home page of Valmorel on the crystal site under lift passes etc) and he said he could not explain it. I asked him to price the holiday for me and he came back with the same price as I had - £2344. I asked to be put through to the complaints department as I was so annoyed (really at myself for not just booking it earlier inthe first place, but also for the removal of the offers that are still promised). he put me on hold then came back to me and said "I think I may have found a code, canI ring you back? So he rang me back and gave me a price of £2044 so I decided to snap his hand off. When I went ahead wth the order, for some reason it had went down in price to £1970! So I am happy I think I got a good deal inthe end, the choice i made and that is where we are going! Just have to look forward to it now and study the piste map until my eyes hurt! lol

SkiSet Ski Hire Choices

My experience booking with ski set when I went to Niederau was I paid for the intermediate boots and skis thinking i would get better quality ski stuff. the reality of it was that i could have paid the basic amount or had all the bells and whistles and still ended up with the same stuff in the shop. they werent interested in what i had ordered, just that i had prebooked, and asked what level i was. so if i had of known that before hand i would have paid the minimum amount and still got the same - hence i was kicking myself. even though i had paid for silver stuff i ended up with a pair of boots that looked about 20 year old (but saying that they were so comfy).

The shop did not seem to be aware at all what i had paid, or whether i had ordered bronze, silver or gold - only the fact i had prebooked a set of skis and boots. they didnt even have the information i had took the time to fill out and had to waste valuable skiing time filling this information in again. so either ski set are not passing this info on, or the shop did not have a good enough computer system to receive this info. so if you are going to niderau and booking through skiset, pay the least amount you can, you still will end up with the same thing.
Hi Ian

I still havent booked it yet. I am still looking at way I can go to Valmorel for the same price as it seems to have loads of blue runs. Do you know if there is anything in Francois du Longchamps? do tour operators go there or would i have to do it myself? I was thinking as Francois du Longchamps doesnt seem as popular it will be cheaper but you would still get all the runs. We dont need loads of apres ski, just maybe an organised sledging night or swimming pool to break the nightime boredom. we wont be going out every night.
