In fact. Excellent idea. A Christmas ski swap shop.

You can put socks in, nutty his jumper. I will have your socks. I have a pair if driving gloves?

Giving my ski socks away would lead to a quick divorce.
Apart from my Wildschönau Racing Club sweater, (golden dragons on the sleeve, and madetory) I don't do jumpers, just lightweight merino Trying to get my luggage down to 12 kgms, including boots.

New ski gloves, several years overdue, I may not get frostbite on my thumbs this year.
Ski socks, which I rarely wear. I recently bought a couple of pairs of lightweight merino socks to try. It's the thought that counts.
Ipod, 10 x the capacity of my current one ~ well needed, and now loaded with Alpine favourites.
Tennis raquet bag, so I can put the bits of my old one straight in the bin.
Verdi CD ~ including Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves ~ my favourite ski tune/song.
Reg D Hunter DVD, good apres ski recreation.

He certainly is Dave

Whoa, I can feel a challenge coming on....At 6 years old, they think they own the mountain. "Get out of my way"!
May just miss skiing with the young fellah, that would have been good, although, I might meet up with him, (and you) on the Friday night!

The best skiing book I have, (and I have dozens),is "The All Mountain Skier" by Mark Elling.
I think it is fair to say that to get the best out of the book, it may assume a reasonable knowledge of ski technique. My oldest son who is a fairly mean skier, handed it back with glazed eyes....

Will hazard a guess for fresh snow to be Friday 2nd December, usually starting about 7.00am.

Whilst I agree with most of your wisdom, Dave, I have to take you to task on your fresh snow prediction.
This is clearly a fantasy - are you planning to ski on December 3rd?
First snow is never on a Friday - it is always a Tuesday or Wednesday - this is well documented.
First snow falls from late afternoon, not early morning.
Whilst I would like to say November 29/30th - 6/7th December is more likely at resort level.

Ha ha, just found this, it actually snowed on the 4th, at 8.00am!
Buy at today's rate?

That settles it. If an economist and a guitarist says to buy now, we wait!

Dunno why I'm joining in this, I have a bucket full of Euros left over from last season, partly a slight miscalc, and partly cos of much lower ski costs than my budget plan. I can assure you, this is a rare condition.

It's also the cause of wind-slab, on the lee side of ridges.

Huge amounts of snow can accumulate quickly in such slabs, and is laid down in discontinuous layers as the wind swirls from one direction to the next... the combination of which is extremely unstable and a common source of avalanche.

Good reason to ski beside trees, and avoid ridges!

Anyway, who was it that first told me this? (Not the eddy current effect, the tree lee-side light powder deposition) Couldn't have been....... you admin?
