Lech & Zug info please

We have stayed in Lech and the run down to Zug from Zurs is (or was) a red itinerary route which I am always relieved to get down in one piece! We have always found the buses excellent however so your OH could ski from the top of the Rufikopf cable car with you down to Zurs and take the bus back to Lech and then Zug.
Our favourite lunch spot is on the terrace of the Burgwald hotel at Oberlech.

Jastem,

Thank you for the info. Bus it is going to be then for my OH.

Merry Christmas!

Lech & Zug info please

Hi,

We just booked a week at chalet Furka in Zug near Lech leaving on 19 January :D
TO rep told me on the phone that there are easy Green runs back to ZUG, but I can only see ski routes, marked Red and Black on the piste map.
Can I please ask visitors to ZUG about home runs/routes. Are any of them relatively easy?
Also can you please advice on good mountain restaurants and apres ski in Lech, Zurs and Zug.
How frequent and busy is the ski bus service between the two?
How good is ski bus service to Alpe Rauz in St Anton ski area?
Is it worth for my OH who is a timid intermediate to go there?

Thank you for your help and Merry Christmas to All at J2Ski,
Andy

We have been with RocketSki to Saalbach and vowed never to use them again! Enough said.

Actually, I don't think it is. I had one bad experience, which was down to a horrible hotel and unpleasant guests in it, and one great experience in a chalet. I'd use them again for a cheapie

What was so bad about your holiday?

Hi Tony,

We are glad that you had one decent experience with Rocketski.
BAD:
Food - tiny portions, some guests were regularly served portions missing vital ingredients mentioned inm menu, i.e. missing veggies for diner , tasted horrible
Loud Noise in the chalethotel every night till 2-3-am,
location,
lack of knowledge of reps.
As we normally go skiing only once a season we expect to enjoy it.
It is the case with other ski operators.

Wengen is on my wish list too, but as we have not been there before I cannot review the region. Plenty of English speaking staff there.
Budget Skiwear Goes On Sale At Aldi

I bought a pair of ALDI sallos before last season as a spare second pair.
Tried them on the first day of skiing and never looked back. I prefer them to my older Spyder sallos that cost many times more. They ALDIs are very comfortable, water- and windproof and functional.

Dave Mac wrote:I didn't say all Aldi sallos.

The £250 very comfortsallos were hopeless, didn't even have decent pockets, which the Aldi sallos did. Also, the stitching looked weak on the spensive pair.

I conclude the Aldi design to be better.

I agree with Ian on the Dare to be quality, although that seems to have improved. Most of the Aldi gear is better than DTB.

Pockets on Jackets and Sallos need to be right for me. I always carry a camera, and most days carry a sketching pad/pencil. Occasionally a small w/c paint set.

Some jackets purport to be ski jackets, and don't have a pass pocket on the LH sleeve.
Advice on Cervinia,please

LOTA wrote:Cervinia is probably the most confidence boosting resort I've been to. Long, long, wide motorway runs - the reds would be blue in many other resorts. OK intermediates will love it, perfect for the just-out-of-beginner skier, a confident skier might find it all a bit samey - although runs like the Ventina taken at high speed are a hoot!

Totally agree with LOTA.
Plus there are fantastic Zermatt runs just over the hill for the more adventurous:)
