The fact that BAA is not a national company but a private one sold to foreign investors seems to be a bad idea. As does its huge monopoly over the Southern airports. They don't have to invest. People won't choose to use another airport and the government can't seem to apply any pressure.

Kudos to the airports that have managed to stay open over the last month.

My wearing a helmet last year did not, in any way, make me feel the desire to be more reckless.

The fact that someone is taking a safety precaution makes me think they are less likely to be reckless.

Someone reckless would surely not want to wear a helmet in the first place?

I haven't fully fathomed how Brussels decide on their lawmaking but it's never seemed to be influenced by what people actually want.

Bansko - Royal Towers

I went to Bansko a couple of years ago. We go on a group trip and I can't decide our destination.

Bulgaria would never be my first choice of holiday. However I found Bansko much better than Borovets. The skiing was fine for us but not somewhere we'll be rushing back to.

If you do go I recommend you insist that your skis are set to your weight and height properly. They don't seem to care very much about things like that and that did worry me a little.

If you're up near the Gondola you're in the best position for nightlife too.

Bulgaria is the worst place I've been but it is a case of you get what you pay for. As a cheaper option I think it gets more stick than it deserves. I've only been once to Borovets and once to Bansko though, so I'm not an expert.
Just come across a BBC story on this.

** Insurers 'charge for snow tyres' **
Some motorists who fit winter tyres to their car to cope with snowy conditions are being charged higher insurance premiums, it is claimed.
