My calves are larger than average. I did a bit of research online before going to buy my boots. A few brand names were described as suitable. However the guy in Ellis Brigham seemed to know his stuff as far as larger calves were concerned.
On here many people suggest a professional boot fitter. This is definitely the route I'll be taking with my next set of boots. Unfortunately this year funds are low so it will be sometime after this year's trip. I'm sure if you state your area of the country someone here will be able to recommend a boot fitter. |

I seem to be in a minority in not being a fan of Paddy McGinty's. I find it brash and just like the bars I avoid at home. Nothing in the slightest reminds me of being in Italy. Especially as they seem to have no idea of the aperitivo tradition.
I much prefer Ghost bar or the wine bar/restaurant across the road from Paddy's. Unfortunately when in a group, you usually find some drawn into Paddy's before you've had time to suggest somewhere else. |

I would also recommend a private instructor. 2 hrs each morning works for me. Then you can have lunch and spend the afternoon with the rest of your party.
I am always wary of companion skiers and their tips. I have seen some helpful advice given out and some bloody awful advice too. Find an instructor you gel with and stick with one lot of tuition to take in. |

I've seen people mention anti fog spray on here before for goggles.
Can anyone recommend a particular brand? Is it necessary to go for a 'cold weather'/ski designed spray? Does it work on sunglasses as well? Thanks in advance :D |

How does the government and local authority fund Heathrow, et al?
Edit: Jon Snow has just tweeted this "BAA banning pictures of the distress inside Heathrow: urge anyone you know in tnhere to feed us their pix www.channel4.com/news ta!" BAA are going to come out of this badly. I wonder if it will lower numbers through their airports. I doubt it. |

It seems that passengers are managing to get to Heathrow or they wouldn't be stuck there. The problem is the airport management itself which surely is funded by the owners from the huge profits they make from their monopoly. They can definitely afford a few more snow ploughs even at that price.
