Having just come back from St Martin in the 3V my husband has said that he will categorically NOT go anywhere else. Loads of on piste accommadation (cheap too if booked with tourist board or local Immobilier). Lovely village atmosphere, lots of sun during the day and access to the largest ski area in the world. Jerusalem Run (often cited as THE best run in 3V) on your doorstep...Paradise

Hi paralyticskicrazie, we are looking to go to this area beginning of April. Can you give me an idea of where you stayed and how much it costs? We have had 2 weeks in Austria already and thought we might like to try France for that week.

thx in anticipation

nadia race wrote:I know of a nice apartment in Kaprun 2 bedrooms close to village centre, 11 April for 1 week, if weather holds then you can ski in Zell am See as well on the same pass, but if not the glacier is a few minutes from apartment. Bye the way we were also in Abu Dhabi , kids went to Al Kubairat, ant even remember how to spell it now. If you need any info for this apartment please get in touch

Hi Nadia Race

My kids go to Al Khubairat also. We have been here 8 years now so things have changed a lot.

We would need the apartment from 3rd april which is the start of school hols - any availability?

I have apartments in Leogang , part of the large Ski Circus with Saalbach and Hinterglemm. Leogang is an ideal family resort and from 14th march ( maybe slightly different next year ) kids get a free ski pass which can be a big saving. There is evening skiing, toboggoning and a weekly show on snow, but no clubs so the resort is a true family resort. We have a sauna, hot tub and Sky TV, plus loads of board games, a childrens play room table tennis table football and pool. So actually you dont need to be lloking for anything to do. If you need any more info please get in touch

we are looking to come back to Austria fro easter - can you advise what Kaprun is like to ski at Eater time. We are a family of 5 and your apartments sound ideal

sasha320 wrote:Hello all, I am due to go skiing in Courchevel for the first week in April and fully expect to have severe foot pain - this post is seeking advice on where and how I can minimise the foot pain before I sadly and very regretfully have to consider giving up the sport... :0(

I am an intermediate / advanced skier, physically fit but overweight (weekend rugby player).

A number of seasons ago, Lockwoods in Leamington Spa diagnosed my foot pain as having a "forefoot varus" in both feet and advised an anatomic insole, a pair of custom molded Salomon boots (Crossmax 10) and Zipfit inners.

For a variety of reasons, I got the insole created by a third party unrelated to Lockwoods (by an NHS foot surgeon) and although it was clearly a good insole, I'm not sure it was very compatible with the boot. When I went skiiing, I suffered enourmous pain again.

So I am looking at going back to Lockwoods or Solutions 4 feet and getting another fitting done. I am prepared to start from scratch or reuse bits of my existing kit, e.g., new insole and inners with the old shell.

I supect that Lockwoods and S4F are equally competant, but does anybody have any recommendations on what I should do, where I should go and / or alternatives?

Many thanks Sasha

Hi Sasha

I have the saem foot problems and they are finally gone after 20 years!!! thanks to Rob Graham at Daleboot in Kitzbuhel. They also have other outlets around Europe too. You can see my writeup in the Ski boot threads

Make sure you leave some beer for us latecomers that don't get there till Sunday Tom

Dave, On Wednesday, I'm guessing that you will be with the Aufhofers at 4.30pm in the Shirmbar, just below the Gondola. I am likely to be 10 min later than that, so will try and contact you on Jan's mobile, see if you want to meet up in the evening.

But I hope you have good skiing, the conditions are looking very good.

Hi Dave Mac

we have just returned from Jan's place and would like to come back for easter. Can you ask him what he thinks are our chances of good snow for this period?

thx
webbski wrote:Dear CW,between you and me,please try Ischgl.... :-)

Hi webbski

I did look at Ishgl a couple of years ago and cannot remember why I did not go there. Perhaps it is too young / party type crowd? Do not get me wrong, love to party etc but with 3 children in tow usually look for something a bit quieter. I have two daughters one preteen the other just teen and a 7 year old who all ski well. Husband is what you would consider expert with my eldest daughter close behind. We all love our skiing, is Ishgl somewhere we should look at for our next trip? Your advice would be appreciated
Any advice on Helmets

Thanks for that Ian, might take you up on it next year as a lot of skiwear etc places I contact online will not deliver to Abu Dhabi. I really do not like wasting a full day of my ski holiday kitting out the kids with new thermals, gloves etc. They hate it too
