Hey Guys 'n' Gals,
If you lot are really planning to invade Niederau, my place will easily take 30 people and I'll do a top deal for everyone who's a regular on here 8) Lemme know ;) Jan p.s. And I did find out that Thompson still have the lease on the Vicky until 2010 but the running costs are too high so they are just not going to open it ... |

Trencher, I wonder if you could say a bit more about the importance of Sidecut Radius when selecting a ski for a Beginner? What would the difference in experience be to the beginner between a “straight” ski and a “radical sidecut” ski?
As you know I value your opinion on all things and your post left me wanting to know more! Jan |

Trencher you win 1st prize for observation! Excellent work sir 8)
So what’s my reason? (I was going to say excuse but I’m not really sure that error or fault are involved) Unlike some ;) I do ski with sticks, but when I’m just making lazy, rolling, “airplane” turns like this pole plants seem altogether too much like an unnecessary use of movement. I suppose, thinking about it some more, that the pole plant has one function – Timing. Timing of the initiation of the turn and in some cases initiation of an un-weighting motion (either up or down). Since these turns are “effectively” continuously linked arcs with no distinct initiation or un-weighting phase I’m fairly confident that the pole plant can be skipped. It’s funny but, in my imagination, if I were to tighten up the turns slightly I would start introducing the plant – Just don’t ask me when that moment occurs! Again, fantastic observation Trencher! ellistine: Fantastic 8) 11/10 ...
I guess I'll think twice before trying to get away with such an easily exposed con :( Jan p.s. This does look like it should be the start of a new thread entitled something like - "Spotted: J2Skiers in amazing skiing photos" ;) |

skidaddle: Actually I had airbrushed them out to avoid showing off but here is the original!
Yay! Finally, accreditation to the upper echelons of the skiing elite! Jan |

Oh and as for the stick - That's the final resting place of the last person to ask Dave Mac why he skis with his
- I once tried to ski with my hips together and all I can say is that Dave is far more flexible than I will ever be ;) Jan |

ellistine: You win :) Would need far longer than that 8)
