Hi,

Last time I drove it we broke the journey just West of Geneva, but only because the UK part of our journey + the ferry added quite some time to the first day. I'd say ise has it right  at 10 hrs but I wouldn't want to do that with only 1 driver and 4 restless kids ;) well not unless Mogadon is readily available

As for the resort it's great, with something for everyone, but it's real value lies in it's use as a base to ski from. You can ski on a tour right around the area, taking in some great runs with plenty of variety. The only slight problem being a (from memory) longish pole right at the top to connect to the next resort.

I'd go back anytime!

Enjoy,

Carol: I'm afriad not :( Your's will be even better :)

Our family kitchen is on the ground floor. Your room has a much more panoramic view more akin to the webcam views ;)

Dave: Teebutter - Have you installed some secret camera??

As I'm sure L., DaveMac & others will confirm the ski school in a certain resort of our acquaintance ;) starts accepting kids from 3 ½ yrs. Our oldest spent the whole of last season teaching them and almost without exception they ended up their week in the ski school race followed by a prize giving to celebrate their achievements!

The very few who didn’t make it were those who’s parents refused to leave the instructors to do their job. The kid would then not know who to listen to or look at. In some cases the parents were actually walking onto the slopes to interfere, needless to say this led to failure.

Every parent knows the pain of leaving their child alone in a strange environment especially if that child is a pre-schooler … But instructors are well trained and will be far better equipped to ensure a safe and fun introduction to skiing than well meaning but interfering parents.

My best advice is to introduce yourself to the instructor who will be looking after your child and check on class times and collection locations , introduce your child to the instructor, say “Bye!” to your child, turn around and walk away without looking back. When you do this your child will be clear that the instructor is in charge and will look to the instructor for guidance from the first moment. This is crucial for the child’s safety and happy progression. Once you’re out of sight you can nip around the corner, grab a hot chocolate, coffee, Glühwein etc and watch the whole lesson from afar. The temptation to wave, callout encouragement or stand right on the very edge of the lesson is understandable but one that really must be resisted.

Phew, nearly a rant there, but I think I saved it (I hope) ;)

Anyway, good luck with your choices and have a great holiday!

David: Sorry to hear of your troubles and just a note to say, "Keep the faith"

If you can find a way to continue, I'm sure you'll reap the rewards in the longterm.

A speedy recovery to your wife.

L. - A salutary tale indeed :(

Ross: Took your advice and spoke to Natives. They weren’t as expensive as I had expected. I agreed a price for the advertising but before the ad went live the manageress sent me the CV’s of a couple (22m&19f) who she said she thought were perfect. We did a phone interview and agreed terms, there and then. When I rang Natives back to explain that we’d filled the vacancy and to arrange payment, the manageress said, “Oh no, that was a freebee!” I nearly fell over! Naturally, I insisted on making a contribution, but isn’t it good to see that in these dark days there are still good people and their companies around who don’t see every single interaction in terms of the bottom line :) More power to them!
