Make sure you take enough cash for your needs. I phoned my bank week before last to say I would be abroad and may use my debit card. Have heard from others that some peoples cards get stopped because they suspect fraudulent use abroad. Bank told me that the exchage rate would not be great and there was a 2.5% charge for using debit card abroad. Not sure if this applies to all banks.

Downloading on the lifts is... allowed!!

Way to side track the thread, Ross.

We like X country skiing, usually start a holiday doing that. Enjoyed it even more this year, cos' straight from the door, also some floodlit so could do a bit in the evenings. There's no way I can see you cross country skiing.

RossF wrote:Remember talking bout touring bindings in a thread the other week? You can get a snowboard that splits in 2 with special bindings to the same effect. When they have 'skinned' up the hill in skiing style they can clip their board back together and go down sideyways. Poles are pretty essential to 'touring' or 'skinning' regardless of the method chosen.

A lot of snow-shoeing goes on here, Rose, I imagine you would like it!

Yes I enjoyed snow-shoeing but found some walks exhausting. Must get fitter for next year would like to do a lot more
