I should have said, no it's not of course. It's a Fischer team on Mount St. Elias (5489m) in Alaska led by Austrian Axel Naglich. It's a big tick as the relief is unique in that it rises from sea level.

bandit wrote:Sport Conrad in Germany offer a very good online service, and amazing prices. Quick delivery too, used them several times. Their printed brochure is absolute ski porn :D At the moment they are selling off all their Test Kit. So it's slightly tested stuff at very good prices, like Volkl Mantras with Marker Duke's for 500 Euros

bump

just got the new brochure and there's some real bargains. If you can resist the urge to have this years most talked about ski and just get what you need there's some great deals especially with bindings I thought.

You'll need to dig through it a little but that'll have the information you need.

off the top of my head Engelberg springs to mind. If there's snow a lot of places will be open for weekends by then, I'll dig out a list.

Easyjet don't seem to have a weight limit for hand baggage.

Indeed not, it's displayed prominently at airport as frequent travellers will know and it's on their website :

Not only that, but if you have bags that are over the hold limit they'll invite you to stick some more in the hand baggage.

It's something I would like, just a gadget kind of person I suppose. I think I know what Hirsty is on about, and I am sure I have seen one. That would be a watch with an analogue dial for timekeeping but with digital function in the background for the more complex altimeter, GPS etc. Mind, I am guessing that would be extremely bulky!!

You don't actually need a GPS to ski with though ) The pods are trackers only as well so if you want to navigate you need something like the Suunto X10 or X9 but I don't think I know anyone that actually uses them, this is the X10 :

My Core is around 48mm in diameter and around 10mm thick, it's the diameter that makes it bulky but it's displaying a lot of information I want to see at a glance without fiddling around. it's this one :

I like it a lot and it's light to wear but I don't wear it unless I need it or I'm on a trip. Many mountain pro's use cores or the more popular older (but still great and available) vector so it's part of that uniform if you're trying to send that message with what you're wearing in the bar :D Casio do something but again I don't know anyone that uses them although I'm sure they're just fine.

Bear in mind that any barometric altimeter (as these are) will need constant re-calibration to keep accuracy though.
