Good memories for you, Pavel. I had a similar, smaller scale set-up. When ever Ski Sunday was due to come on TV, out would come a long board from behind the sofa, and I would balance it from the top of the sideboard onto the floor. Ski sticks were fashioned from rolled up Sunday Times. The two boys would race each other down, (average time, 1.5 seconds!) They both vied to be Steve Podborski, else they were Ken Read, Todd Brooker, Franz Klammer......
Now, like your sons, Pav, they are both good, fast, safe skiers. It is a great feeling skiing alongside them, now, I'm sure they have forgotten their first ski exploits......... |

Thought you might know them, Andy. This is a sting..... |

This is the right thread, innit, for flogging off the ski cheap stuff. Well theres this guy Trencher, he's in the know, don't ask questions, right. He's dead straight this Trencher guy, just the gear that's a bit bent.

Yes, Absolutely yes. That is why, Pavel, I could not wholly concur with "Keep your mouth shut while skiing the deep" My best big powder days have occurred in Niederau and Colorado, and one half of the time, I was laughing uncontrollably. Yes, I ate a lot of snow! I confess that some of the time I was crying with joy. There, I have outed myself! |

On the other hand, Rainmaker is spot on with Calculus of Manifolds methodolgy ~ this being employed within Euclidian Space Theory. It is better treated with differentiable manifolds ~ these are embedded within Euclidian Space, and are at a level that can be understood by many.
Moreover, a differentiable manifold is a topological manifold. In addition, it is more common to define Euclidean space using Cartesian coordinates, eminently suitable for describing ski turns in a geometrical situation. So, well done Rainmaker on that one. |
