Heavens above Eggman! How horrifying  I had no idea that a bunnion operation could result in one needing 6 weeks off work. How awful. Poor you.

How did you get the bunnions in the first place? And what are they exactly?

Ally

Hi AllyG, some will say you get them from wearing high heels :) but not in my case. My Gran had them and my daughter who is 18 has early signs. Some sort of growth that pushes the big toe over towards the little toe on the same foot. No worry's as I am getting paid. I am going to get the dressing changed tomorow at the local hospital if its open, will get photo of foot if poss :)

Eggman,
Thanks for your reply. A photo would be truly horrifying but very interesting!

I can appreciate the fact that you haven't been wearing high heels :D but do you think you could have been wearing shoes with a narrow toe section?

An increasing distortion of the big toe, something like you're describing, runs in my family as well, and I've always been very careful to either go barefoot (as a child I used to go around London barefoot and in the fields here as well), or wear trainers or wellies and so far my feet are fine :D My older sister wore high heels etc. and her foot is quite distorted now. I always banned my kids from high heels and narrow shoes and their feet seem to be okay.

You are very brave to have an operation like that on your feet. I think I'd be petrified  I hope it fixes the problem for you so that you are fit to ski once more :D.

Here is my right toe taken this morning, its sore! The nurse was a bit keen when she took the bandage off and pulled some of the scab off, but I did't cry(well not much anyway) )

I will be going for a fitted brace in the summer as the pain is getting a bit too much now  Not much to worry about at the mo as I am off work for 6 weeks after my Bunnion op. Gives me much joy reading all the posts on the site.(Sad or What) )
