Hi all, time to get back online as the snow has arrived!
I have booked for Saalbach Hinterglemm this year for a week beginning 30th Jan. I need to book ski school for 7 year old son and snowboard school for 11 year old daughter who wants to start snowboarding this year instead of skiing (I promised her if she could do a side slide on the back edge of her wakeboard she could learn how to snowboard - I did not think she could do it!!) I am now stuck with her wanting to snowboard  My question is this, there are two good ski/snowboard schools in Saalbach, can someone advise me on which one to choose? We are staying at Pension Enzian which is near the footbridge to the centre of town, I think. Any advice on Saalbach would be appreciated as we have not been here efore. I will also join the thread on the Zermatt trip for 2010 :P thx Carol |

Tony H - where do you find these great deals! I have been looking for days! We live in the middle east so we do not really have access to UK operators but if you can point me in the right direction for catered chalet bookings it would be a start thanks carol |

Hi guys I have spent the last 3 nights sitting up until midnight looking for some cheaper accommodation for a family of four. I have already booked the same hotel in Kitzbuhel that we were in last year but fancied going somewhere different so have been looking at Solden, Alpendorf, St Johan im Pongau as well. I have made some enquiries at Alpendorf hotels and they are coming back with prices twice the price of Kitzbuhel - am I missing something here about Alpendorf being less expensive than the well know resorts? We are looking at 3 or 4 star hotel, half board with 6 day ski passes so I can compare apples with apples to my current booking Any suggestions would be really appreciated Carol |

Hi Dave Mac Sorry for not being clear, busy moving house, going to work and getting kids back to school!! to clarify, we are going to Austria for two weeks in Feb, 13th to 27th I rebooked the same place in Kitz for two weeks that we stayed at last year and have to confirm the booking end of September. We have had thoughts since that we would like to try somewhere else for a week while my daughter is in her school camp in Kitzbuhel and we will then join her in Kitz when the rest of the school kids go back home to Abu Dhabi i,e, we have one week elsewhere, one week Kitzbuhel. We thought of staying on mountain but since my post we feel we need a resort where my 11 year old daughter can start snowboarding instead of skiing this year, something I promised her last year. We also have a 7 year old who will be in ski school (he wants to learn snowbording too, do they take then this young?? he will be 8 in January and can wakeboard already (sorry off topic there again, waffling) so far have looked at Ishgl, Solden, Obergurgl, Wagrain, Alpendorf but it is sooooo expensive, more than double what I pay in Kitz and I thought that was expensive! Any advice you or others can give me on where to go and accommodation which has a good snowboard school is greatly appreciated. We do not need a lot of nightlife, half board is my preference ( I like a holiday too) so a couple of bars and a few ski shops (can't buy the gear here so do it when I arrive usually) is all we need. Your mountain huts with fresh tracks have me drooling though :P thanks Carol |
