just a note ...book your ski hire before you go as they do charge much more (from the same supplier) in the resort

I was there in Jan ..nice little place .There is a free bus that goes round the village which takes you to the gondola and then there are (or were .I believe they have improved them) 2 chairs up to the top ..not inconvenient at all and ther are nice runs down to the top of the gondola and a nice black back down to the bottom. It all connects up very nicely. The only thing I can say is the little shops in the village are expensive so a car is desirable to get to the hypermarkets,,I enjoyed it there

Daved you are right re cheapest transfer don't care if train, bus or taxi. The £40 transfer from Salzburg you mention is that bus ot taxi?

Bandit, I most likely will go down the chalet route as I am not overly keen on skiing anything too exciting by myself.

Thanks again

You have to go to the resorts web site and do a search ..in this case coach

http://www.obertauern.com/en/winter/local-info/arrival/fly-shuttle/fromto-salzburg.html

but that was my starting point when I did it the first time...
