i cant see why there is such polarisation here ..does it matter where you get your boots from ...yes you will might get a proper fit buying a boot from a place that fits them but you might not be able to afford it so what then ...ski in bare feet...really its just a matter of caveat emptor...I was in the footwear trade for 25 years so I know what people will wear (especially women)and it made me cringe The main thing is that before you buy do the research ...have your feet measured and find out how wide the boots are and if they match your feet ....Your feet wont adjust to them and they don't stretch and Superduke_Chris if you need a custom footbed its more important than buying a more expensive boot as it will adjust and correct the way the whole foot and ankle is positioned

I had a similar sort of injury some years ago and the cause was a forward fall and the bindings opened late basically because there was nothing under ...tip in a bank and heel on the trail and air in the middle... and the skis bent too

A bit hit and miss in my experience...it depends on whether the operators have overbought space...Last season I could not find anything in January so missed out but the season before had no problems..booked a couple of weeks before..look at the Thompson website it will give you some idea as to how well things are going for them

CEM I can see where you are coming from and I think I was probably lucky in my purchase but that does not help Tony-h to get his boots to fit any suggestions from a pro?

As I mentioned in an earlier post I had insoles custom moulded for my feet (they are very flat and I had problems with ankle rubbing and PAIN) They supported and raised the instep which cured all this and I am sure if I had taken the boots in with me they could have been adjusted to make them fit properly...cost me £40 3 years ago so not a very cheap option but in my case definitely worth it

I bought a pair of boots some 3 years ago ..I first went round the local stockists and tried them on ..Snow and Rock were the most help ..I had a custom insole moulded for me at Big Dicks (I know) Surfboard in Sheffield and then bought a pair of Rossignol boots at a good price on the Bay...can't say I have had a moments pain in 8 weeks on the snow...maybe I was lucky
