UNLISTED NISEKO!!!

Niseko was featured on this week's Skiers' World (Canadian programme, Travel Channel 2).

From what they were saying it's powder, powder, powder all the way!
Well Done Chemmy

Two solid results at the championships so far for Chemmy!

Would have been better today, I think, but for a yellow flag on her first run. She had to go back to the top and start again.

And to add insult to injury, the British federation was fined CH999 for Chem allegedly ignoring the flag.
Skiing In England

There are quite a few well-organised ski areas in the north of England (Lake District, Allenheads, Yad Moss and Carlisle) and all of them have updated websites, webcams, weather reports etc.

And today I have just added a new run: the back hill from Summer Street down to the Slad Valley, just outside Stroud, Glos.

Quite a hike up - but a real laugh ski-ing past the sledgers!

Further to the above, I have just read the resort profile on J2- and it looks very interesting.

Any other local tips would be very welcome, though.

Thanks again!

Ise/Bandit

Would you be kind enough to tell me a little bit about Grimentz (and Zinal for that matter)?

I'm trying to fix something up for early March and would like to try somewhere new in Swisserland!

Many thanks for any assistance you can give.
School Trips in 2010

Really interesting points Diane.

I started ski-ing on school trips in the 1970s. We went to 'cheep and cheerful' resorts like Sauze D'Oulx and Nauders in Austria - which meant the prices were in reach of the majority of families. Pupils at my brothers' school went to Andalo in Italy for many, many years - again at a price which was within reach of most.

Now my old school offers its pupils expensive trips to Heavenly and Tremblant - way out of reach of many, many parents.

This is a great shame as many pupils just won't get the chance of trying (and getting hooked) on the mountains in winter.
Late tickets! GRRRR!!!

I've booked many times through Ski Solutions - and often have collected tickets etc at Gatwick so, hopefully, should be no problem.
Late Skiing?

Skied loads of places in April over the years; been caught in many a blizzard at that time of the year too!

Perhaps it would be best to hold your nerve and book late after consulting snow reports, weather forecasts etc.

I think this year with the credit crunch etc there will be plenty of late deals kicking around, especially with specialist operators - or do what I'm planning to do and travel independently.
