I've had great holidays with Inghams, Crystal and Neilson.
I've travelled more often with Neilson because their holiday comes out a smidge cheaper and they offer ski guiding in most resorts on more than 1 day. I've been lucky to have never had a real problem whilst on holiday so I've never needed to test what any of them would be like in a crisis. It comes down to which company is available in the resort I want to go to? If more than 1, which is cheapest? |

Old Andys post above is a good one. If you choose to ski La Rosiere you can venture into Italy (La Thuile), accessed from the La Ros slopes on the same lift ticket, might add to the feeling of a family adventure assuming your kids progress well enough to handle a blue slope (they probably will, kids are amazingly quick on the uptake) then you can have lunch in another country. :)

I used to have that problem. I have very muscular calves, I needed the back of my boots flared to accomodate them and an additional elastic booster strap to stop toe bang and resulting nail loss.

One thing to remember is just how much colder Canada is in relation to Australia. Temps in the minus 30'c area are not uncommon.
Do ditch all cotton clothing, do wear layers, mittens with glove liners are much warmer than gloves, either a neck gaiter/buff and facemask or balaclava will be a blessing. Vaseline for lips/exposed noses. If you don't do helmets then do get a hat that fits snugly over your ears. You will need goggles not sunglasses. We loved Canada, only did Banff big three but plenty of scope for a fortnight. If you look in the Canada section of this site there are some trip reports and other advice to whet your appetite. |

It sounds like ClarePow did her research too, shows how easy it is to fall into these traps.

Kuhtai in Austria is hugely under rated, only an hour transfer, small family friendly resort with ski in/out, I think Inghams go there, relatively cheap and high up too.

Check your bank account/s and your existing policies, my own equipment/luggage is covered by my household insurance upto £500. (this would not cover new for old on all my clothes/skis but would cover me purchasing second hand skis the same age as my own and kitting myself out from TK Maxx - acceptable in my eyes)
My bank account itself covers holiday insurance incl repatriation with snowsport coverage except off piste without a guide, it also provides cover for renting if my gear doesn't show up and buying essentials while waiting for suitcases. You may find you already have a level of cover acceptable to yourself. My other half uses Dog tag. |
