Banff/Lake Louise lift pass is in the top 5 most expensive passes in the world. It is worth remembering that whilst it is so expensive you also get 3 modern extensive ski resorts with mostly high speed lifts and expensive on and controlled off piste terrain. |

From the article:
Ally, I wonder how much more energy the higher altitude panels get not to mention they may get more days of sunshine per year than rainy Wales. |

I'd imagine they have thought it through. |

They are a Canadian based company so I guess it is natural that most of their business in Canada. With the strength of the CND I doubt they are so hot on exports right now.
A single ski rack would cost a European mountain restaurant about 100 euros (5 pairs of skis). If I owned a restaurant I'd be putting money in to buying 5 lots of racks and selling the keys. You'd pull your money back fairly quickly (assuming 'ski key' offer wholesale pricing). It makes great business sense. |

I am just saying people should have lockable ski racks not that they should turn the places in to large scale Tremblants  Is it really too much to ask? OK it's mostly Canada but seems as if plenty places have them... http://www.skikey.com/locations/ I don't know how anyone can argue against that concept. |

Yes. Don't quote me on it but the company makes the majority of their cash on the locks. If not free they are heavily discounted.
They don't need a cashbox. Click AllyGs link to the ski key and find out more about them. If I was a restaurant I would take the initiative and install a secure place to leave skis. If people are aware of the issues then I bet they would pick the mountain hut with locking racks over the other one (assuming they are fairly similar). There is a reason all the major resorts in North America have these. |

Don't need concrete - just a well designed rack.

Every resort I have skied in Canada has Ski Key racks. Don't know why they don't catch on to this in EUrope.
(if you don't know what they are Google 'ski key') |
