Coop we went to Niederau last year and we all hired boots and skis via skiset and got them from the Margreiter hire shop which is just down from the gondola. They are really helpful in that shop and I was quite surprised at how good the rental boots were. None of us had any problems with the ski boots like aches or anything, the only complaint I had was my burning feet which had nothing to do with the hire boots, but that is another story lol.

ok so I have just bought the helmets and now i need goggles to go with them. I found last year that our bigger style goggles seemed to press down on your nose with the pressure from the helmet and became very uncomfortable. also we bought them from aldi and they were absolutely rubbish! every single pair fogged up and hubbys goggles inside goggle layer just completely fell out. I am looking at getting a smaller type goggle so was wondering if these would be any good?

Hi there
we are on our second ski trip in March and we just want a nice area we can cruise around that is good for beginners. we have chosen to go to Valmorel in France through crystalski. It is supposed to be fantastic for beginners and intermediates and is quite a large ski area. best of luck in your search, there are so many out there. |

that is a good idea about using the jacket as a pillow. and we are travelling in the afternoon and dont get to resort until about 6pm so it would make sense to take the jacket. Never thought about wearing the snow boots but that is also a good idea as they take up loads of room. hubby is more of the opinion less is more and would prefer to take as few cases as possible. we are also wanting to buy and take helmets but i think we would look like we had landed from the moon if we wore them lol (not that i would dare)! we are flying with crystal and i have looked at their terms and conditions and unfortunately we cant take the helmets as hand luggage. it doesnt say anything about boots as hand luggage but i know some tour operators dont allow it. we dont have our own skis but even if we did, according to the t&c's we would not be allowed to have a bag more than 6kg. here is what they say
The ski & snowboard bag must contain the pair of skis or snowboard ONLY and weigh no more than 6kgs. Boot bags count towards your overall weight limit on all flights, as do skis on some scheduled flights so, i dont think i will be wearing my sallos, but i think it is probably a good idea to put those in your hand luggage - oh i can hear the hubby now!! do we have to have so many bags? do you really need your straightners? lol |

Now I have my boots, I am looking at ways to save on the weight in my case.
I have no intention of wearing said boots on the flight (although I know people have done before). We will probably wear our ski jackets on the flight but do people wear their sallopettes or is that a push too far? |
