Yes, it was all planned in advance. I think the days of spur of the moment weddings are long gone. We started to get the paperwork together in November. Lots of translation and legalisation required before simply saying 'yes' on the day. |

I've not read the rest of this thread (a little bit tipsy) but I know when we were in Obergurgl one of the local instructors was dissing Solden as it was similar in size to Obergurgl/Hochgurgl but with much more traffic. After driving through the town I could believe him. Saalbach Hinterglem. You know you wanna. |

Blimey!
Thankyou all for your very kind messages. We just got back an hour or so ago after a great week in Austria. We stayed with Jan and his family at The Auhof in Neiderau and without who's help we would never have been able to get married in the way we wished. The wedding was a complete surprise to everybody here in the UK, including family  and despite the quite large amount of paper work involved, we managed to pull it off and had a great day. The only problem the whole week was our skis not turning up at the airport. However it turned out they never left Bristol and on our return they were there waiting for us. A new problem is the replacement skis we hired were quite nice so I reckon some new ones could be on the radar! Despite looking out all week for Dave 'the hat' Mac we only managed to catch up with him briefly on his last night which was a shame. Maybe next time ) However, it appears some so called 'friends' have aquired access to our house while we were away and have decorated the place with bunting, confetti and balloons! All the cupboards have been booby trapped and there's tiny bits of paper from the notching machine at work all over the place. Blighters :D Anyway, thanks again. Keith and Kim (without the pink fluffy ears this time)

Where you off to? P.S. I added the 'to' to the end of the question as Tony_H reckons it's propper West Country! |

Exactly. I reckon a lot of resorts are closer than people think. We're in Neiderau next week but are planning a single night in a Hotel in Leogang so we can ski Zell am See and Saalbach over two of the days. Getting a single night in a Hotel was no problem at all. |

Our local sailor has completed the Vendee Globe this morning.
Interesting article on how dedicated somebody can be to a cause; http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/news/?article=145353 An extract from the article; Eighth place will be a just reward for White who has moved mountains to be in this race. Typical of his determination, he arrived in Paris in the summer for a Meteo France weather briefing for all the Vendée Globe skippers, and had so little money that when he spent his few Euros getting the train in to the wrong part of the City, he had to walk two and a half hours to the other side of Paris to get to the venue. He had already prepared himself to sleep rough in the adjacent park afterwards, before Brian Thompson offered him a floor in his hotel room and gave him a lift back to the airport. |

Brilliant!
There's some amazing shots in there. |

That's a bit like us. We took up sailing last March. When the snow melts and the ski gear gets put away, it's time to get out the wetsuits! Actually there's a bit of overlap as we sailed yesterday and we're skiing again in a few weeks! |
