Last blast for 2009!

My thoughts exactly, Neil, on it being a long time to next winter....

but I've been to Tignes a couple of times, not one of my favourites, and I'm feeling very anti-French resorts for a number of reasons. Tignes is also more difficult to get to, compared with cheap flight to Zurich and straight on the the railway!

Just had an e-mail newsletter thing from Engelberg; they are doing a three for the price of two deal on hotels and lift passes. That might just suit me perfectly! :)

Yes, Tony, he was.....but earlier in the thread, aharwood made the bold assertion along the lines of Austrian instructors are better than French teachers. I was commenting on that, really. Perhaps I should have done one of those quote things!

If I could add my 10p worth.....

In 36 years of ski holidays, the worst ski school experience was St Anton, closely followed by Kitzbuhel.

Best ski class experience: Heavenly.

Worst private lesson experience: Val D'Isere

Best private lesson experience: Fernie (but the bloke in Arosa the other week was not bad!)

My only conclusion is that you can't make any generalisations along nationalistic lines; bad instructors are bad and good 'uns are good no matter where they comes from!

Seriously considering a last blast in Switzerland for the season AFTER Easter.

With snow depths everywhere excellent, it would appear, I wondered what the best choices might be in the view of other J2-ers!

I have Engelberg in mind for altitude, ease of access etc and the fact the lifts are open to end of April at least.

Any other suggestions. As always, thank you.

Tony H, I love it when soccer types get upset at the use of the word soccer - and then quite happily lap up Soccer AM on Sky on saturday mornings! (The word is derived from association as in association football, which I believe are the rules governing the dreadful game in the UK!)

As for Cheltenham Town soccer - conference in two seasons' time?

Soccer talk? How dull...now rugby union, that's a different matter.

C'mon Glos!
I acquired some Spyder gloves in Heavenly and other than on warm, spring days, they are crap - wet and cold!

As for fat German men, I'm not sure Spyder is the brand of choice - I thought it was the horrible Bogner or the even worse flourescent orange or lime Elho jackets and suits! Yuk!
