Extraordinary series of pictures...but some of the captions were bewildering!

What does slayage mean, for example?

That's a shame, Tone. I've come round more and more to Switzerland as a skier making my own arrangements it works out less expensive than France - and the quality of service is so much better.

Zermatt is one of the world's classic resorts- and should be sampled at least once in a lifetime (although I accept it is seriously expensive when you get there!)

Matt Monro? Sheer class....

'Walk Away, Just Go
Before You Throw Your Life Away'

One of my all-time favourites (along with the Sex Pistols, The Clash, ABBA and Northern Soul!)

Thank you LM. I will try.

British Columbia is very striking, but Switzerland remains, for me, the jewel in the crown of all alpine countries.

Somehow, I get the distinct impression that Tignesfest is aimed at a slightly younger audience than I'm normally a part of.

So with that in mind, I'm booking my Engelberg trip (complete with thumping sounds in the Yucatan!) tomorrow.

Just got a return flight on Swiss for £97 - not bad for a full service, free ski carriage carrier!
