Developing both of these good replies, unless you want to have two weeks in one place, I suggest you put some arbitrary dates on Cristmas and then New Year. Say, Sunday 23rd to Friday 28th Dec, and then until Friday 4th Jan. The outer dates are arbitrary, it is matching the inner dates that is a key.
Then select two places you want to visit. Italy would be great for both Christmas and New Year, so would Austria. both of these countries celebrate the two festive dates well. I am not sure that many areas in France are quite as good, and you would need advice from Bandit re Switzerland. (I'm not stereotyping here, just saying what I am aware of, I have had 7/8 ski Xmas/New Years.) Having chosen your ski villages/towns, first check here on J2ski, then also email the local tourist boards. If you can get the two key dates set up, you are in gloryland, just fill your boots with great places on each side. Reinforcing Bandit's point, some of the most interesting locations, culture and people, are in the small villages. You are certain to make some great finds, (report them back, please!) Equally, you can go back a year or two later, and you are very likely to be remembered by the locals. You will discover great runs! Ski well. |

Thank you, FQ. Yes, I do a fair bit in oils, not alpines though. The only time I tried to get take them on a flight, they took the oils away ~ "combustable materials, sir" I generally do portraits in oils, cos you can make loads of mistakes and fix them! Water colours are unforgiving, the whole thing has to be planned, and each stage got right. It's a doddle doing alpines, though, you start off with a page full of white stuff! |

Thank you Snapzzz. Normally a picture takes 2~4 hours. This took 4 days! The light depth was really difficult.

Hi Kansin,
Welcome to J2ski. When you are on the autobahn heading for Innsbruck, take the first turn for Woergl. (There is one before, and one after the town. Head into the town, and then for the rail station, bahnhof. There is a good Hervis store on the right. Back on the main road, carry on, and in one kilometre, there is a big Intersport on the right. After this, carry on for half a km, and there is turn off to the Autobahn. |
