Andy have a great time, you've waited long enough. I suspect its too early for you to be looking to book for next year

Ally, where do you fancy going in December?

Funnily enough we were talking about next year yesterday - looking like just before Easter, OH and son prefer the warmer weather!
Sister and I may sneak out for something low season as well which would be good.

Good Friday is April 6th next year, so two weeks earlier than this year :)

And in 2013 Easter is in March so post Easter could be both good snow and really good value.
Went post Easter a few years ago when it was seriously quiet with some lovely snow and sunshine.

Alistair,
I'd like to go back to Courchevel, but get a 3 Valleys pass this time and ski out of the Courchevel valley in the afternoons after my lesson.

The problem is I'd like to go with the same group of people as last year but the only week we're all free without missing any school is the actual Christmas week, and I'd hate to be away from home for Christmas. As far as I can remember I've had Christmas here for the last 30 years. Plus, I wouldn't like to leave any family members behind, so we'd have to bring another 5 people with us!

If one of us misses 2 days of school (and why on earth is his school going back on a Thursday anyway?) then we could go the week of 31st Dec to Sat 7th Jan. But the problem with that is that if we go back on the Eurostar night train again it means trying to get back home from London Sunday morning on New Year's Day by train, and I don't suppose they'll be running. In fact, come to think of it, the Eurostar night train might not be running on New Year's Eve

I should think the Eurostar tickets will come on sale in July, like last year, so I've got until then to decide what to do.

Ally

Ally, sounds like a major dilemma  Why can't life be simple. Thats the problem with group trips and meeting everyones expectations and commitments. Good luck with what ever you decide upon.

I try to avoid being a creature of habit, and i made my last trip to Mayrhofen this season just gone, as i dont feel the need to return to ski it for a 7th time. Having said that, I'd happily go back to Serre Che again as I think the ski area there is fantastic. Theres a big old world of skiing out there, so it seems a shame to keep going back to the same places over and over.

I skied St Moritz for the first time in Jan, and the skiing there was top drawer, helped by incredibly good snow conditions, so I'd consider a return there next year for one of the 3 planned trips.

I think its time I stopped talking about going to the Dolomites and did it at last, so thats maybe the January trip. Serre Che would be an option for a long weekend over Easter maybe depending on how the snow holds up, which we did last year and it was superb.

So, no real plans as yet. It depends on whos going to be coming with us, when we go, and what others throw into the hat as well. The consensus does seem to be for a return to St Moritz though, so maybe that could be the March trip, as I think Dolomites would be better in Jan.

I'd like to squeeze a pre Xmas trip in to somewhere like St Anton if poss, but that might be pushing it a little!!!!!

Now thoughts are moving on to upcoming summer trips, and an imminent long weekend in Rome followed by 10 days in Thassos in June, and a planned week somewhere in September which hasn't been booked yet, still trying to find a really good deal.
