I've skied a few major resorts in north America, I saw plenty of money making enterprises on and off the slopes, but none of these.

I think that we should resist the creeping Disneyfication of European ski resorts. It will only encourage the abdication of an individual responsibility.

I am just saying people should have lockable ski racks not that they should turn the places in to large scale Tremblants

Is it really too much to ask? OK it's mostly Canada but seems as if plenty places have them...

I don't know how anyone can argue against that concept.

They are a Canadian based company so I guess it is natural that most of their business in Canada. With the strength of the CND I doubt they are so hot on exports right now.

A single ski rack would cost a European mountain restaurant about 100 euros (5 pairs of skis). If I owned a restaurant I'd be putting money in to buying 5 lots of racks and selling the keys. You'd pull your money back fairly quickly (assuming 'ski key' offer wholesale pricing). It makes great business sense.

I have to admit that the skikey racks have been at all the Canadian resorts I've visited and my friends out there were really surprised I didn't have a lock already. I have to admit that they are really easy and quick to use and at least you then don't have to worry about your skis.

Think I will struggle next time I ski in Europe.....

I struggle to understand how those of us who:

• worry about ski/board theft
• stress that all rescue bills will be honoured
• reckon a helmet may just save thier lives in a freak set of circumstances on piste
• wonder if a wee bit powder/fog/rain/slush will ruin a ski trip
• are certain that experiencing anything other than the brochure pics

...... can have a good and fun holiday. To be honest, it's completely beyond me and my comprehension of enjoyment. We do things like this to put excitment back in our safe, sterile and sanitary lives. Get a grip, take a chance and get on with it.

I don't - I use a lock
I don't - I buy insurance that covers me.
I don't - I wear a helmet through choice
I don't - I reckon rain in the village means pow on the hill
I don't - I don't use Tour Ops

I just deal with the things I can manage, and get on with my life :D

What I mean is:

• be sensible and minimize your risk
• accept and be comfortable with risk you take
• decide what risk is acceptable for you as an individual
• learn that if you are gonna master this, that you have to embrace nature
• that marketing is the bigger risk in all your lives
