The helmet ratio was about 90%.
The heroes abound still without their helmets, but majority young and old all wearing
helmets.

Maybe he's not being sarcastic, and he really does mean 'heroes'. I knew an old WW2 fighter pilot once, and you wouldn't catch him wearing a seat belt (before they were compulsory I mean).
And I'm not exactly a hero, but I simply can't stand wearing a bicycle helmet. In my time I've biked hundreds, if not thousands of miles around London - including round Hyde Park corner, Marble Arch, even accidentally once on the M4 (a long story) without one, and without any sort of accident. I love the feeling of the wind on my hair, and the sense of freedom I get from being on a bicycle. If bicycle helmets ever become compulsory I might just give up riding a bike. It wouldn't be the same at all.
Whereas, for some strange reason, I don't object to my ski helmet at all - in fact I've become quite fond of it during the course of my week's ski holiday. Maybe it's because I've always skied in a woolly hat, whereas I've always gone bare-headed on my bicycle.
Just do what you want to do, on the ski helmet issue, Tony, and don't worry about everyone else. Unless helmets become compulsory the choice is yours.

Wind your neck in Ross, I didn't say I was offended. I just get pissed off with super heroes in helmets who go on about people who ski in hats as some kind of lesser being.Pablo Escobar wrote:Tony - if you get so offended by it just stop opening these threads

Peoples choices are choices at the moment.
Not injuring yourself when falling cannot be guaranteed by wearing a helment (depends on how and where you fall).
The amount of deaths on the slopes that are attributed to not wearing a helmet are a small %age out of the total.
Afterall, it is funny to wear a helmet.

Sorry Tony,
Thats the kind of comment I refer to where people look down on those who dont wear helmets.
Your comment above is not me referring to the none wearers in general as heroes.
I refer to the ones who fly by on the slow zones and ski aggressively amongst groups of skiers
with most of them not wearing helmets. I just found myself uttering the word "Hero"
Verbal reaction, thats all i conveyed in my post.
