On Friday morning a received a private message from Dave(admin) informing me that I had won the pre-season competition from Interhome  I explained to Dave that it was rather ironic as I have been very organised this season and had pre-booked our trips already and used our leave allocation for this finacial year! Dave suggested that perhaps we could use the voucher for a summer holiday however after much thought, approx 1 minute, we thought we should book our first April ski holiday.
We are looking to take a long weekend (4 days) in possibly Switzerland, which would also be a first however, this is not in concrete and we would appreciate any advice j2ski members could offer. There may be up to six in our group and we range from intermediate to advanced piste skiers. We would be looking for a short transfer, the opportunity of cheap flights and good snow for the first week in April. One that springs to mind is fly into Zurich and onto Engelberg? Your thoughts would be very much appreciated
A big thank you to Dave, j2ski and Interhome for this fantastic surprise :D :D :D

Engelberg is spot-on for a short break (except in poor visibility when the lack of trees make it a nightmare). For cheap flights use Swiss (free ski carriage) and it's an easy transfer by rail from the airport via Lucerne. Although the village is relatively low at 1,000 metres asl, the skiing goes up a long, long way so April is generally ok. The glacier ski area is small and not much to write home about but the easily accessed off-piste is sensational!

Thanks LOTA, We thought this may be a good one however, all the powder would be wasted on us at the present time, although we are tempted on most trips  It appears there are some good pisted runs approx 80kms which should be ok for a long weekend and in April I would hope the visibility was good. I will keep this on the list.

Congratulations AlistairS
I reckon that Engelberg would be a good choice. I have stayed there on a short break in an Interhome property. The apt was a brisk 5 min walk from the Titlis Gondola. Engelberg is really special, I'd go back for sure.
You could look up the J2ski members at Skiers Lodge, you might get even a free beer :D

Broom Thank you, we are considering everything but convenience is the key word with limited time to ski we don't want to waste time on longer transfers. The opportunity for cheaper flights make Zurich the better option at present.
Bandit Thank you, Its interesting that you have stayed in Engelberg in an Interhome property and would return of course being a powder hound  Is the train station located near Zurich airport for an easy transfer?
I think I would be in the hot seat for buying the beers.
