Villard de Lans

The French ski resort of Villard de Lans has direct access to 130km of downhill skiing, with 32 individual pistes, served by 28 ski lifts.

With skiing above 2000 metres, snow cover is generally reliable.

Snowmaking :- Villard de Lans is able to augment natural snow, on 16km of ski runs, with 220 Snow Cannons.

Ski Lift Capacity :- The 28 Ski Lifts of Villard de Lans are able to uplift 30,000 skiers / snowboarders per hour.

There are five airports within two hours drive, so ski weekends, snowboard breaks and short ski holidays to Villard de Lans are perfectly feasible. Grenoble Airport is just one hours drive away, in good driving conditions, so you can be on the piste quickly.

Skiing in Villard de Lans

The skiing here is superb, and particularly noted for its variety of slopes. There's plenty of opportunities for the complete beginner and enough challenges for the experienced veteran. There are excellent slopes suitable for beginners at the top of the Pre des Preys gondola lift, with a convenient mountain restaurant and sun terrace. After just a few hours of basic training beginners will be able to enjoy some of the beautiful easy pistes like the Clos-Glovettes and Marmotte.

Many intermediate runs are found in the Grande Moucherolle and Correncon areas. There's plenty of scenic variety with runs both above and below tree line, and also a good selection of terrain types.

A good amount of serious skiing for the more advanced skier too, with 12 black runs and the off-piste opportunities of the Petite Moucherolle. There is some debate over the most challenging black run, but the Rhodo moguls, Le Grand Couloir and the long and difficult Chamois are certainly contenders.

Added to the 20 lifts here are a further nine connecting lifts of the neighboring resort Corrençon en Vercors, where there is a similar selection of runs for all grades of skier. All these lifts are included on the one pass.

Villard de Lans, with its many sports facilities including ice-skating, horse riding, tennis and a leisure center offers plenty for those who prefer to spend their time off the slopes. Village tours are available by sleigh, and there are some more unusual activities like visiting the local pottery, torchlight descents, bowling evenings and the entertaining Puppet Museum.

There are two nightclubs - Le Club 2000 in Cote 2000 and Le Vidrick in Villard de Lans. Other local activities include archery, ballooning, a bridge club, casino, dog sledding, ice climbing, luge, paragliding and Snowshoeing.
