Tiffindel was just being developed when I was there. I think they may have snow making now - they certainly didnt when I was out in S.A.
I skied in Lesotho a few week-ends. Wits ski club had a few rope tows up there and we stayed in a very dodgy lodge owned by a Greek bloke who was married to a local. Great fun but I wouldnt rush to book it for your next holiday :D

The drive from Maseru up to the lodge is one of the scariest drives I've ever done, really steep gravel tracks with the longest drops I've ever seen at the side of a road.

Great memories though, I havn't thought about it for a while.

No, after next weekend Zinal stays open and the rest of the Anniviers opens on the 20th. All open next weekend with the possible exception of Vercorin where I've no idea.

Bugger  Did you skin up today?

They have opened up later this year. This date last year I was skiing Zinal.

Vercorin was open at the weekend.

No, Zinal was open today, it's a public holiday in the Valais

Public holiday or not, Grimentz was closed!

I know, I suppose it's all about money. Zinal were always going to run the lift anyway for the racers, so the extra costs of allowing punters up was probably offset by day tickets and business for the restaurants. At Grimentz they'd have had to offset the entire cost and there wasn't so many paying customers once you've subtracted people on season tickets. That's my guess anyway.
