Posted 9th Jan. On Facebook, also on Twitter. Very gentle slope angle, should dispel any myths that avalanches only happen on steep slopes.

Turn on the sound and consider if you think the person holding the camera was right in their safety judgement.

At least they dont have to worry about another slide, the trees will hold the snow!?!? :shock:

Those 16 or so scattered trees in the distance will make all the difference! Obviously!!Think those skiers are lucky the trees were there because if they weren't.......... :shock:

Coming back from Plaine Dranse on the chairlift I was looking at the huge cracks and gaps between the slabs of snow slipping down the side of the mountain grass and vegetation showing underneath so no base to speak of at all. Avalanche risk is maximum here ..signs everywhere ..and ..you guessed it, two skiers trying to jump over the rifts in the snow.
its all going rapidly downhill!
