Can anyone help please? Our travel plans from Livigno, through the Munt La Schera Tunnel to Zurich were severely affected on the morning of Sat 7th Jan 2012 due to heavy snowstorms and avalanche risk in the period leading up to it. I am trying to find evidence/reports of this to support our insurance claim.

If you were prevented from leaving Livigno because of an avalanche you will need to get a written statement from the resort management. If the tunnel was closed contact the owner http://www.engadin-strom.ch/en/index2.php?sprache=en and if you were delayed on the Swiss side the Cantonal authority should be able to provide you with the info you need http://strassen.gr.ch/sites/strassenzustand/zustandsmeldungen.html
On the subject of Livigno, as my annual trip approaches I have been keeping an eye on webcams and snow depths, well to be honest I've probably been looking since June, but that aside I have been watching as high snow depths have reached 170-190cm and low levels to 50+cm, which of course is great. However, the last few days on this site has reported high levels at 100cm, the Livigno site has also gone from 170cm down to 130cm overnight? who nicked the snow?
Sounds a bit odd though, IW the webcam you mentioned shows loads?
Can anyone explain this reduction??

I don't worry too much about snow depth Livigno is high enough and cold enough to maintain good snow conditions through the season ... don't worry you will be fine
